This is where you post things famous people might have said…but never got around to actually saying. Try to make it as much in the style of the person you are “quoting” as is possible.
“Everything I know I learned from observing others, and taking drugs, and observing others taking drugs.” -Hunter Thompson
Do you really think any of these could be mistaken for a real quote from these people? I’m not really asking for parody here-just “quotes” that people might believe are real if they didn’t know any better.
Okay, I took liberties with the last two. The first two, I must defend. R.O. did enjoy a tipple or four at parties (I read his biography). R.F. did his share of womanizing and (in)famously tried his hand at being a pick-up artist.
But I suppose you’d have to have read just enough about both, but not too much, to fit within your OP criteria.
And Churchill would have said this because…? Please see post #3-I’m look for quotes that people might believe could have actually come from famous people, but didn’t. For example, see posts 5 and 6. I wouldn’t find it unusual if those quotes were real, because they seem like something those people would have said.
“You can shoot the man having the idea, but never the idea itself”. Gandhi
“Your gate is, indeed, stout. But I have an axe.” Harald Hardrada
“I’d like my rifle back now.” Hugh Glass
“Well, I wouldn’t do it again”. Alvar Nunez Cabeza de Vaca
“It looked much like the rest of it. It was our presence which gave it meaning” Amundsen
“A rich man has many friends, but remains rich by being friend to few” Shakespeare.
