Toy Matinee, not much else to add, just enjoy it.
Good call. I’m surprised how forgotten they are…“Gilbert Street” was a great song that got lots of “underground” FM airplay back in the day.
I was going to mention Sinead Lohan’s I Am No Mermaid, but I found that she had released an album prior to it that I had never heard of. Still, I Am No Mermaid is an amazing album that was widely praised but didn’t find an audience and Lohan seems to have dropped out of making music. Her website appears to have not been updated since 2001, just a few years after her second recording. It’s a shame.
It may not be fantastic, but I’ve got a soft spot for the self-titled album by The Amps.
Dear Lord. Maybe before a lot of posters were born but surely *In A Gadda Da Vida *by Iron Butterfly is a leading contender.
But “In A Gadda Da Vida” was Iron Butterfly’s second album (remember “Heavy?”), and they had two or three after that as well.
I may have taken a different spin on the OP. I read it as one amazing full length album- there may be others but not amazing.
Apologies if I have made it ambiguous. (And the other Iron Butterfly albums were not that great- I had them).
I haven’t heard much of the album, and critical consensus is mixed, but Jim Steinman’s solo album Bad for Good might be a candidate. One album, at least (though, of course, he did well as a songwriter ).
