So I was watching a rerun of “Fantasy Island” this morning, and a few questions/thoughts occurred to me.
People pay to have their fantasies come true on this island. Don’t they get angry, then, when Mr. Roarke inevitably turns the fantasy into a moral lesson about what was wrong with the fantasy to begin with?
Where is the island located? It obviously has some Hawaiian influence going on.
Mr. Roarke often says he will not interfere in a fantasy, but then a lot of times he does interfere. So which is it?
No, no, no. It’s because we’re all decent people at heart, and even if we have selfish fantasies a few days with Ricardo Montalban and Herve Villachez will show us how much BETTER it is if we change our ways!
Wait, you didn’t get that lesson? Don’t worry, there will be another shown next Friday night at 8 PM.
They either get an even better fantasy, or, they learn such a valuable lesson that they realize what they got was better than what they had originally wanted.
Not important. Could just as well have been Fantasy Dome in the arctic.
Of course he’s interfering. Everything that happens in the fantasy is controlled by Rourke, even the things that seemingly get out of hand were contrived accidents that moved ‘the real fantasy’ along. The only thing that’s not in Rourke’s control is the free will of the guests who could reject the fantasy and do the wrong thing… but that goes against the show’s premise.
