Faris Hassan's Day Off

Good thing someone saved Faris.

That sounds a lot like a prank.

[Ben Stein voice] “Hassan? . . . . . . . . Hassan? . . . . . . . Hassan?” [/Ben Stein voice]

I like his mother’s reaction at the end of the story: “I don’t think I will ever leave him in the house alone again. He showed a lack of judgment.”

I can just imagine this woman receiving that phone call from her 16 year old son, telling her he had snuck off to Kuwait and was planning to take a taxi to Iraq. “Young man, you get home this instant! And when you get back from the Middle East, you are so grounded, mister!”

sounds a lot like a wind up. Kid saves his allowance and flies out without telling anyone. Spends 10 days with family friends in Lebanon and WTF were his parents doing during that time? Then those family friends arrange a flight to Baghdad and a ride to an international hotel.

Man, those crazy teenagers these days!

Can you imagine his college application admissions essay though? He’s so into just about any school if he has the grades.
