Fat loss and lead poisoning

This is inspired by some crime tv show (I think it was wither Bones or CSI), and is a bit weird.

Let’s say a 6’ man has gorged on chocolate for five years, and now weighs 20 stone, due to his overeating.

He is heavy, but not gigantic, however, his diet is primarily chocolate. He has normal food, but loads of chocolate and sweets.

He then goes on the Lipotrim diet and loses all the weight over a short period.
My understanding is that

(a) Chocolate contains a ton of lead.
(b) the body neutralises ingested lead by binding it in fat (or it is somehow stored in fat deposits).

Would the sudden burning of these fat deposits, lead to the man getting lead poisoning? All that lead being released back into the body at once cannot be healthy.

Or was tv lying.

Evidently, there have been studies finding lead in chocolate, so without doing more research I’ll say (a) is plausible. But the first few hits for “Lead Metabolism” don’t say anything about fat storage (lead is mostly deposited in bone), so I think (b) is not correct.

There are other toxins that are fat-soluble, so the situation is sort of plausible for those toxins, although I don’t think it’s anything to worry about it the real world.

In the original biodome experiment, the occupants stuck it out despite catastrophic failure of the ecosystem. (Apparently they were reduced to picking bugs off the potato plants by hand to ensure a food supply). They lost much of their body fat, and blood tests revealed they had high levels of various toxins - PCB’s and such. The doctors eventually realized the fat being used up relatively fast released those years of accumulated stored toxins into their blood.

I haven’t heard of lead being stored in fat, but many other interesting chemicals are, and this is the case that comes to mind about such a situation. Eskimos also apparently have high levels of PCB because they eat a lot of seal and similar high-fat meat from the top of the ocean food chain.

I have never heard of lead in chocolate to any significant extent.

It was CSI - just got a flash of the old blonde one saying “death by chocolate”

Early episode I think.
