Father, aged 16, killed in a vehicle hit and run

How exactly would the world benefit from this guy? Like Magiver said - Darwin award. Worthless piece of shit.

There is a big difference between 6 and 16.

Oddly enough, I feel precisely the same way about sanctimonious pricks like you.

OK, well, I don’t give a fuck how you feel.

Anyway, sometimes you have to call a spade a spade. No way am I going to join in any bleeding heart bellyaching over this pathetic piece of shit who got what he had coming to him. I know it’s very enlightened and progressive and everything, but you can count me out.

Will we get to call you a worthless piece of shit when you go off your meds and lose it? If ever Darwin comes knocking on your door, I hope I’m close to a computer so I can create a mean-spirited thread about it.

The guy was obviously unstable, probably not that much different than a huge contingent on the Straight Dope. Why is what he did so hate-worthy, but not the guy who hit him and ran away? What, did he punch *your/i] car?

It’s not going to happen, so no, you won’t be able to call me a worthless piece of shit under those circumstances. You can call me whatever you want to now or at any other time, though - I don’t mind. Anyway, the guy was trash, I’m sticking to it, and I don’t care if I alienate a few people. Everyone has to draw a line somewhere, and mine is pretending that anyone who does anything as stupid as what that guy did doesn’t deserve it if he gets hit by a car.

Maybe this guy had bipolar disorder too, and wasn’t diagnosed?

I have a friend who has (to the best of my recollection) bipolar disorder with schizophrenia-like effects during certain mood episodes; it surfaced in her 20s. She sincerely believed at one point that she was under surveillance by the government and they were - among other things - observing her through the fast food drive-thru’s speakers. If she had decided to end it all and tried to fight off would-be rescuers, would she be worthless as well?

She’s on a good mix of meds these days and teaches special ed at a high school in a low income town. She works hard for her students, cares about them, and has gone out of her way to try to help them succeed. But hey, since her brain chemistry flipped out on her, I guess none of that matters.

Schizoaffective disorder?

Does it make you feel better to refer to people as trash?

It must because I can’t see any other reason why you would do this.

Sadly, I wouldn’t be surprised if the person who hit him and kept on driving thinks the very same way you do.

Please. By the time you’re 16, unless you’re in the fucking Special Olympics, you don’t lay down in the highway and punch a passing car. Six-year-olds do lots of stupid shit because they’re learning not to do stupid shit. This is just one less piece of crap in the world.

Joe

So do sixteen-year-olds.

Please. You have no fucking clue what the history of this young man is. IF he was suffering at all from any kind of mental imbalance, for all intents and purposes, he may as well have been 6, not 16.

And that’s the point – you don’t know. But without one shred of information other than the mere existence of the act itself, you feel it’s appropriate to make vile and disgusting allegations about him, his life and his girlfriend.

Y’all are fucking creeps.

Maybe he wanted to lie down in the middle of the road and count mufflers.
/just sayin’
//ticket, please

I think the most important thing here is that our life appraisal experts are safe to decide who gets to live and die tomorrow. Let us give thanks for their good fortune. Now let’s all get in line to get our lives appraised, shall we?

No? Anyone?

Geez, what did this guy ever do to some of you people?

He was a total idiot at the time of the accident, sure. But he seems to have been trying to do his best by his daughter, and now she’ll grow up without her dad, because he had one night of total idiocy. I know I did completely stupid things as a teenager, but I lived through it and it’s sad when someone doesn’t get the chance.

I suppose the best that can be said is that at least he laid down himself, and didn’t put um, Breeze (I find it difficult to call anyone a meteorologic term) down on the highway with him…
Maybe he was mentally ill. Maybe he was high as a kite. Maybe he was dumb as a box of hair. I find I don’t have much sympathy for him*. I do pity his daughter. 15 year old girls do not good mothers make. Nor do 16 year old boys make good fathers. Actually, the girl was 14 when she had um, Breeze, if I’m counting on my fingers right. We’ll never know why he did what he did. IMO, the driver should be fined and perhaps his license suspended for a bit, but really, he was set up. (love the phrase, “driving furiously”, btw).
*which is not to say I think he’s scum.

How was he trying the right by his daughter? I don’t get that from the story at all…

“It’s a pity Bilbo didn’t kill him when he had the chance.” say’s Frodo “Pity? It was pity that stayed Bilbo’s hand. Many that live deserve death. Some that die deserve life. Can you give it to them, Frodo? Do not be too eager to deal out death in judgment.”

Chardonae Breeze, actually.

Now, he doesn’t deserve to die for that, but…
