Fatty fruits: Are avocados unique?

Are there other fruits or vegetables (nuts notwithstanding) that contain high amounts of fat?

Its rivals include olives and durians.

Coconut.

Has often been accused of being a nut.

Coconuts and peanuts, neither of which are nuts.

And even if they were nuts, nuts are still a kind of fruit.

Legumes aren’t, though. They’re legumes.

Legumes are also fruits. They’re the part of the plant that contains the seed.

Here’s a starting point: List of culinary fruits - Wikipedia

Note that your attempt to clarify matters by excluding nuts (and presumably seeds) is problematic, because it is a form of special pleading. There are plenty of fruits that contain high amounts of fat, but we don’t generally consider them culinary fruits–for that very reason!

So we could compile a very long list of botanical fruits that are high in fat, but they won’t seem like fruit to you because they aren’t soft, moist or sweet.

If you want a list of soft, moist, high-fat fruits, olive and durian both qualify.

Bananas?

No. Bananas have lots of carbs, but only negligible amounts of fat.

While peanuts are legumes, coconuts aren’t. They’re monocots, highly unrelated to either legumes or nut-bearing plants.

IIRC Brazil nots are the highest fat nuts inthe world.

Also known as nãos.

The fruit of palms (at least oil palms) is also high in fat. But I think the OP was really asking, “Is there any fruit we commonly eat as fruit, that is high in fact, other than avocados?” I cannot think of any. (I am not familiar with durian. Isn’t that the one that siinks?)

Well, some times it *feels *like a nut.

Some times it don’t.

Am I missing something with corn?

Corn is a cereal grass.

Not that we eat avocados as fruits (or tomatoes). So yeah, I guess it all depends on what are we calling fruits for the purposes of this thread.

Yes, durian is the one that super stinks.

The corn grain is also a fruit, but not very high in fat.
