Faulty testing kits.

Very little coverage in the mainstream.
A few countries that were using Covid 19 test kits found that they were up to 80% useless. Not sure what countries are using what test kits and methods. But an 80% failure rate can be terrible. Sending infected people back out to infect others.

Where were the kits from? China. Where almost everything we use is from. For now, I cannot put much faith in the numbers of tested/infected or not.

Thanks, Kedikat.

Very definitely problems, yes. Sounds like China’s trying to straighten them out; but also sounds like there may be a lot of useless tests on the market; and buyers really do need to be cautious.

From the first cite:

From the second:

– I’m also not sure what “90% effective” means. 10% false positives? A significant chunk of people who think they’ve been exposed and now are immune but aren’t. 10% false negatives? A significant chunk of people who think they haven’t been exposed at all, but who have and may be infectious. Or does the “90% effective” include likely errors in both directions? And how does that compare to tests for other illnesses? – in any case, it’s considerably better than the tests which were 35% effective; that’s pretty terrible.

And of course most people in the world still haven’t been tested at all.
