Actually, if we’re counting things other than homemade…I’d have to nominate Velveeta Cheesy Shells mixed with a can of Hormel Chili. Way back when…Hercules(or Jason) probably called this the ‘Nectar of the Gods’. (I’m sure it’s the only way that any of the Argonauts made it safely home).
How about dessert?
One graham cracker pre-made pie crust
One can sweetened condensed milk
One 8-oz carton sour cream
1/4 cup lemon juice
Mix together the last 3 ingredients and pour into pie crust. Freeze. Eat. Mmmmm… you can let it thaw a little and get slightly smooth and creamy before you eat it or eat it all hard and firm. You can get a can of fruit pie filling and put that on top if you want. I like it plain… it’s not really lemony… it is just creamy and cold and good, and I want one right now. Too bad I’m trying to diet…! Why am I reading this thread? Agh!!
Easy Chocolate Cream Pie
1 store-bought chocolate cookie pie crust
10 oz semi-sweet chocolate
3 cups heavy cream
1/2 cup powdered sugar
1/2 tsp vanilla extract
In double boiler melt chocolate
Using stand mixer, whip cream, sugar, and vanilla together to medium peak.
Gently fold in melted chocolate into cream.
Pile chocolate cream into pie shell.
Refrigerate overnight, or until set.
If you want to get fancy, top with chocolate shavings.
(Ok, so it’s 5 ingredients… )
Buy package of pasta salad mix. Boil according to directions and drain. DO NOT RINSE. Add 2 hunks of butter and seasoning package, then follow directions. This makes a hot pasta mix that is much better than cold pasta salad, which nobody likes. You can add veggies and/or meat to it.
A dessert, slightly more complicated: Take any standard lasagna recipe. Add about 1/4 c. sugar and 1/8 c. cocoa mix to the riccota cheese. Instead of tomato sauce, use 8 oz. chopped up chocolate bars. Makes a GREAT chocolate lasagna.
3 pound dip.
1 pound salsa
1 pound ground beef
1 pound Velveeta cheese
Fry beef. Melt in cheese. Stir in salsa. Serve with chips.
For a more elegant appitizer, Caprese.
Tomatoes
Fresh mozzarela or buffalo mozzarela
Olive oil
Fresh basil
Slice tomatoes and top slices with sliced cheese. Drizzle with olive oil and top with fresh basil leaves, shredded.
Adding to the appetizers:
1 package cream cheese (or neufchatele, or whatever)
3 T Pickapepper sauce (it can be found next to the tabasco sauces at your local grocer)
1 box Triskets
Place cream cheese on plate. Pour Pickapepper on cream cheese (enough to cover). Spread on Triskets. Consume.
Simple and good. Pickapepper, for those unfamiliar, is not hot or spicy, for those who can’t handle heat.
Okay, if salt, pepper, and oil don’t count, here’s a one-ingredient recipe:
**Salt and pepper chicken[\b]
Ingredients:
Chicken breast
Debone/deskin chicken breast. Smash it flat with a mallet (~1/4") then salt and pepper both sides. Fry in olive oil. It sounds simple, but damn is it good.
**Brown sugar cookies[\b]
Ingredients:
1 lb brown sugar
1 lb butter
1.5 tsp vanilla
4.5 cups unsifted all-purpose flour
Cream butter, mix in sugar, vanilla, and flour. Roll out very thin on well floured board. Cut into shapes (best if all shapes are similar size) and put on ungreased cookie sheet. Bake at 300 for ~15 minutes. Makes nicely crispy cookies. Or chewy, if you prefer a shorter baking time.
Mine is definitely the best of all the posts I’ve seen so far:
1 bag of semi-sweet chocolate chips
1 bag butterscotch chips
1 can chinese noodles (the crunchy kind)
Melt chips (double boiler is easiest).
Stir in noodles until well coated.
Drop by tablespoons full onto wax paper and cool.
And as long as I got my sweet tooth going, try this. It’s more than 4 ingredients, but it’s still really easy and incredibly good.
1 stick of butter
Graham cracker crumbs
1 can sweetened condensed milk (definitely the nectar of the gods)
Bag of shredded coconut
Bag of semi-sweet choc chips
Pecans
In a large baking pan (9x12x2) melt butter and add graham cracker crumbs. Press to make a crust. Layer with all the other ingredients (I like to do the pecans, then choc chips, then coconut). Pour sweetened condensed milk evenly over the top. Bake for awhile.
Mmm-mmm good.
MeatBalls of Choice
Cream o Mushroom soup
Noodles
bake Balls, add soup,& warm. serve over boiled noodles
Baked potatoes
fried Bacon
Shredded Cheese
Clarified onions
Hollow out potatoes, mix potatoe with the Cheese and bacon. Pack mixture back into potatoe skins. Sprinkle more cheese atop. Warm in oven or broiler untill cheese is melty good
1 large can chunked chicken breast
1 can ro-tel tomatoes
1 can black beans
1 can corn
1 can mixed vegetables
Heat & eat. Makes a really yummy spicy soup.
It probably has a more official Middle Eastern name & I’m not quite sure of the proportions… servers 2-3 people.
1 can garbanzos/chickpeas
2-3 fresh tomatoes
Tumeric & Red Pepper
Olive Oil (opt)
Chop tomatoes & place in skillet with garbanzos, spices & olive oil if desired. Cook until heated through & serve over rice.
NOTE: The tumeric tends to stain cookware – so if you make this often, you may want a separate skillet.
Scalloped Potatoes
6 medium red potatoes
2 tbs corn starch
2 cups milk
8 oz sour cream
¼ cup sliced green onions
½ lb Velveeta, cubed, or grated cheddar
salt and pepper, to taste
Peel and slice potatoes. (If I’m short on time, I’ll parboil them for about 5 minutes.) Place in a greased (or use Pam) baking dish. Salt and pepper, and toss. In medium saucepan, whisk cornstarch, salt, pepper and milk. Stirring constantly, heat to a boil. When it thickens, add Velveeta, stirring until melted. Remove from heat, and whisk in sour cream. Stir in green onions. Pour over potatoes, and bake at 375 degrees 45 minutes to an hour, until potatoes are done and cheese is browned and bubbly.

New York Strip Steak, at least 1" thick, preferably USDA Choice grade, Prime if you can afford it. In a pinch, USDA Select will work ok.
Salt
Pepper
Good ol’ cast iron skillet (or any good thick pan that can go from stovetop-to-oven, i.e. Allclad)
Heat oven to 450.
Lightly salt and pepper each side of the steak, and throw it on the pan for about 15-30 seconds each side, till seared, but not blackened. There will be smoke; the more the better.
Pan goes from stove into preheated oven, cook around 2-7 minutes each side, depending on how thick the steak is, and how rare you like it. Be very careful opening the oven door to turn the steaks, as smoke will billow out.
You may want to take a couple practice runs with a cheaper, thick cut of steak to perfect this method, but you must eventually try it with a New York strip. Oh, and no marinade needed - in fact any acid-based marinade (vinaigrette, lemon juice, etc.) isn’t recommended, as the smoke will stink up the house more.
Oh, and did I mention there’s a lot of smoke? You may want to open the windows, and turn on all the fans.
Despite the smoke, this is a quick way to cook up the best steak you’ve ever made. I have had $60 steaks in restaurants (on the company dime of course), and they pale compared to a good $8 cut cooked in this method.
I know what I want for dinner tonight. . .
Mud Pies
Chocolate pudding
Oreos, crushed
gummie worms
I think we’re having an end-of-school picnic, so I think I’ll make that. 5 and 6 year olds love it too.
Great thread! Yum!
Ok, it’s a drink, but still…
Coffee Milk (Better than you’ve ever had before, no doubt)
2 tbs coffee and chicory essence
2 scoops of vanilla icecream
milk
mix the essence and icecream in a glass, then fill the glass with milk and mix. MMMMMMMM
As long as you ignore the olive oil and seasonings, this is a 4 ingredient dish;
Spaghetti
Diced boneless chicken or Small deveined shrimp or Sausage
Broccoli
Roasted red pepper
Lots of garlic + 20 more cloves, and then add some for anyone else
Olive Oil (really good Olive Oil)
Red Pepper Flakes
Salt/Pepper
Parsley, basil or oregano (best with just one herb)
Saute meat until nearly done, add rest of ingredients less cooked pasta, remove from heat, add cooked pasta, top with some reserved herbs.
Parmesan cheeseburger
1/2 pound of ground beef
1/4 cup of parmesan cheese (grated from shaker or grate some from a block)
Mix the cheese and ground beef in a bowl (add more cheese if you’d like, not so much so that the beef loses its sticking-together property, though)
Put in a frying pan with olive oil and cook (you’ll need the oil to give it a little extra juiciness, the parmesan cheese dries it out)
