sorry that should be “incestuous”.
Maybe we all watched a bit too much of the Roadrunner comic as kids.
The Pink Panther would have to be included in the list as well.
One that I liked and hasn’t been mentioned yet is Quick Change.
That was originally a Col. Flagg (MAS*H) line.
Aw, man! I wanted to be the first to mention Clay Pigeons.
Quick Change, while a fine, fine comedy, isn’t a dark comedy, is it?
Does The Royal Tenenbaums count as a dark comedy?
Women on the Verge of a Nervous Breakdown
I love that movie
Come on, no one is gonna mention ** Drop Dead Gorgeous **?
Best comedy since Clerks.
Fargo is one, and I think “Oh Brother, Where Art Thou” also counts. Would MAS*H count as a black comedy? It IS about war and death.
Yes, but I’m disappointed that I missed being the first to suggest it by only a few posts. Rushmore too, of course.
Re: the OP, I think you mean The Wash. And I think that movie might even fall under the definition of ‘black comedy’ that you were getting at, in that watching it one was unsure if the appropriate reaction was laughter or weeping, which is decent as a quick way to characterize the genre. Although for different reasons than when watching something like Tenenbaums.
I doubt anyone will think it’s a classic, but I just got done watchin Snatch (again)… hee hee hee… that whole scene with the Russian that wouldn’t die…
Freeway, starring Reese witherspoon, Keifer Sutherland, Dan Hedaya, and Brooke Shields. Fantastic film.
Has nobody seen A Shock To The System with Michael Caine?
How about Theatre Of Blood with Vincent Price and Diana Rigg? More of a Horror Comedy but it definitely has black comedy touches.
Where’s Monsieur Verdoux? The Trouble With Harry?
Two extremely underrated films. Danny DeVito is a pretty good director.
Beetlejuice
Speaking of Reese Witherspoon, Election
Mother Night with Nick Nolte
It could have been, yeah, that’s the ticket…
Slaughterhouse 5
The Mouse that Roared
The Second Civil War
I’d say sure, and throw in Catch 22 as well.
Not sure if it qualifies, but U-Turn is a favorite of mine.
And Dinsdale, I had to laugh out loud at your Carwash remark. When I read the title, that’s the first movie that popped into my head.
After Hours
