I love the steamy subs at Firehouse. Give me a hook & ladder any day, maybe even every day.
Subway is ok, at least they offer all kinds of condiments and toppings. JJs just has mayo and nothing with significant flavor, at least that I know of. They got boring really fast.
I did enjoy the taste of Jersey Mike’s the 2 times I tried, but I saw them slice the meat and I swear there were 3 paper thin slices of turkey on this giant bread, totally not worth the price I paid. Maybe if I hadn’t seen them build it?
I go to Subway Monday through Friday, but I never get a sandwich. Their “Chopped Salads” are great. Bread makes you fat.
Publix or Larry’s Giant Subs.
I love Firehouse’s version of a cheesesteak. Yum.
Jersey Mike’s has the best meats, and generally the best preparation for the price.
Publix subs cannot be ruled out, especially since you can pre-order and simply go into the store and pick it up without any fuss. The quality is very good.
Subway has long since evaporated from my list of places to go. The quality is not consistent and they change breads too often. I used to order their BMT all the time; haven’t had one in a few years now.
Jimmy John’s is very average at best.
Which 'wich has good sandwiches. I don’t know how widespread they are; we have several in the Charlotte area.
I wasn’t aware of these. They look good! I’m gonna have to try them. Very excited because subway is the only restaurant between my gym and home.
Four of the five choices are very close to my house… the only one that isn’t is Firehouse. I’ve only had it a few times and I thought it was very good. I like the way they steam the meat just before serving.
I picked Jersey Mike’s with Firehouse as a close second. JJ’s is pretty good and they score some points for delivering when I’m feeling lazy or am particularly busy. Subway is ok, but it seems more like the place where you grab a quick sandwich while filling up your car on a road trip.
I don’t really put Penn Station in the category of “sub shop” because the only thing I’ve had there was a Philly Cheese Steak and Fries. Looking at their menu though I guess I should go back and try some of the more traditional subs.
Firehouse is my favorite of those listed, but I actually like Lenny’s better. Used to be Jason’s Deli, but they have kind of fallen off at least out here.
