Which is better: Subway or Jimmy Johns?

Which is your sandwich preference?

I’m going to repost what I said in the other thread, because this is really all you should need to be proven wrong, sir:

Jimmy John’s Gargantuan sandwich has five different kinds of meat on it. Five kinds of meat delivered to your door in eight minutes at 2:30am. Fuck yes.

I agree that 5 meats delivered at 2:30am is awesome. But the stuff I had there was blegh, so I would skip it!

I haven’t had Jimmy John’s in at least 12-15 years, so I don’t know if it’s changed. I don’t think there are any around here. It was pretty good, I remember. But I eat Subway at least once a week and can’t complain about it.

ETA: apparently there are two in my metro area, and one is only a few miles from my office. I’ll have to give it another try sometime.

Other: The SDMB appropriately named: Cecil’s Deli

I picked Quizno’s because they’re better than Subway IMO.

But I’ve no effing idea what a Jimmy John’s is.

I’ve never heard of Jimmy John’s. My favorite of the chains, by a long shot, is Jersey Mike’s.

Okay, the local/other option totally doesn’t count. A real deli is usually going to beat a chain. If you really want the skinny on Subway vs JJ, the poll should list only Subway and JJ. I voted for JJ in the poll because that is my answer to the question “Which is better: Subway or Jimmy Johns?”

Brothers Deli in the skyway, of course, beats them both. Best potato salad anywhere.

Who is Jimmy Johns?

I agree local is typically better, but if I didn’t include an “other/local” category, you know that would have been the first comment! I haven’t been here all that long, but lurked long enough to know that!

ETA: the comments about “What/Who is Jimmy Johns” shows another problem - regionality.

Subway is cheapest, Jimmy John’s tastes best. The only good thing about Quizno’s is the side bar where you can pile on jalapenos, pepperoncini, pickle slices, etc.

Quizno’s TV ads are truly disturbing.

For the poor unfortunates who don’t have a Jimmy John’s in their town:

We have three - soon to be four here. Awesome sandwiches. Incredible speed. And the fact I can get my sandwich on thick sliced 7 grain wheat bread is even better.

I think you know where my vote went. Subway second, Quiznos dead last.

No JJs in my neck of the woods, and I prefer Togos to Subway. Having said that, the current incarnation of Togos is a extremely pale shadow of what was once the best sandwich shop in San Jose.

What he said.

Jimmy Johns are usually only found in college towns. Subways are freaking everywhere. I’ll go with Subway since I have the most eating expereince there, but I’m not wowed by it. My papa made excellant raosted sub sandwiches in our kitchens. Oh, happy memories of childhood bliss.

Strangely enough, there are seven of these in my general area, and two are pretty close. Still never heard of them until this thread. Apparently a) they need to work on their marketing or b) I am not their demographic.

Jimmy John’s tastes decent and has guacamole, but Subway is cheaper and has a better variety.

Quizno’s and Jimmy John’s both taste better than Subway to me. The ingredients just seem higher quality: fresher bread, better meat. Subway, for example, is most likely to give you tomatoes that are small, green, and cardboardy; and their chicken is low-quality-frozen-dinner grade.

Plus, I like being able to just name a sandwich, rather than having to give detailed instructions about what to put on it.

Mr. Goodcents kicks JJs. Subway is trash.

Moving thread from IMHO to Cafe Society.
