I see we have some chi-town dopers here.(better be) I have lived here all of my life, however, I am sure there is lots I am missing.
Any favorite activities/haunts to reccomend?
Well, where to begin? What are some of your favorite hangouts so far? What kinds of things do you like to do?
I like comedy/plays I loved the Ivanhoe theater. (south loop boy who travels…) Hitting neat shops. The museums. Riding my bike, both “moto” and 26" everywhere
Pretty much up for whatever. Which is the purpose for the post, what part of whatever are we all missing out on? share please
For starters:
“Too Much Light Makes the Baby Go Blind”
Ha-Shalom, a yummy hole-in-the-wall Israeli-Moroccan restaurant on Devon Ave.; the garlic eggplant is not for the faint of heart!
Free concerts at the Chicago Cultural Center
The beach next to the Evanston Lighthouse on Sheridan Rd. at Central Street, late at night (don’t park your bike in the Art Center lot; the cops will know you’re on the beach and come looking for you)
The Ba’hai Temple and its gardens (Wilmette)
I’ll think of more; I have too many favorite places!
Ravinia (over now) great film fest. But yes, I did do the tues. in the park one. OH, and the MUSIC BOX THEATER, some of the greatest indi films Ever!.
I will be checking out Ha-Shalom, as well as the Lighthouse, (thanks for the tips, I may have, refreshments with me. )
www.metromix.com is my preferred search for things, at least the best I have yet found. Looking for light…
Gorrilla theater (don’t know if it is there anymore was another good playhouse)
As I think of more I shall post them (me brain is turning off. )
Thanks for the leads, ** Eva Luna**!
Whoops, almost forgot, the tours of CBOE and CBOT, not very artsie, but a unique part of Chicago often overlooked!
