Favorite Foreign Actress

Amelie
A la folie… pas du tout (one of my most favorite movies)**
**L’Auberge espagnole
A Very Long Engagement

Isabelle Adjani
Sophie Marceau
Faye Wong (even though I’ve only seen one of her movies)

I’m watching A la folie… pas du tout. So far it’s really good.

This thread has got me interested in several actress I wasn’t familiar with.
many thanks!

Emmanuelle Beart

While I don’t watch movies very much these days, I was once infatuated with isabelle Adjani (after watching L’ete Meurtrier)

Anna Karina

Awesome! I am glad you liked it. It’s easily in my top ten of all time.

Silvie Testud

Victoria Abril

Emmanuelle Beart
Gong Li
Maggie Cheung

Signe Hasso

My favourite foreign actress is Katherine Hepburn, but that doesn’t quite seem to fit the thread’s spirit, even if it’s true to its letter.

My favourite Spanish actress is Ariadna Gil. She’s been in, among others, Pan’s Labyrinth and Belle Epoque; I know both are available in the USA and UK markets (I got my copy of Pan’s in an ASDA). She has several other films directed by Fernando Trueba (he directed Belle Epoque) which I enjoyed, but I don’t know which ones are available for y’all. She’s done drama, comedy… there are movies where she mostly sweeps in and models the dresses and others where I get tired just from watching her bounce around so much.

Julianne Moore

It begins and ends with Paz Vega. If I may say so.

Franka Potente.

And Run Lola Run didn’t even need subtitles!

I loved Marion Cotillard before she crossed over into acting in mostly English films… still love her.

Audrey Hepburn. Breakfast At Tiffany’s. From Belgium.

Rula Lenska. It’s one thing to acheive fame through talent and dedication as an actress. Another thing to capture it via celebrity. But imagine the odds against being chosen to be “assumed to be a celebrity”

Yes!

Michelle Yeoh
Zhang Ziyi
Claudia Black (but Australian doesn’t meet the spirit of this thread  )
