Favorite Half Life 2 Moments - SPOILERS!

The thing I enjoyed the most was the Aliens/Starship Troopers nod on the levels where you got to control the bugs. As far as the actual game - I thought it was really fun that those evil flying things would shoot your missiles down, it was fun fooling them.

One thing I appreciated after finishing the game is that there was no “big boss” character. I always hated the big boss, much preferring large scale battles instead.

The uprising and battle with the striders in the town certainly satisifed my desire for big battle. I was struck by just how confusing the battle was for me. The real thing must feel like absolute chaos with no purpose, and nothing to look forward to but death. Terrifying.

I also really enjoyed controlling the ant lions. Very satisfying to sic them on combine soldiers!

I caused the game to crash (well actually had to hard-reboot the computer) when I tried to pick up a tank with the super-grav gun… with it’s capabilities tweaked (max mass and dist increased tenfold). It’s funny how it ‘clones’ story-relevant characters.
Anyone know how to tweak the number of allowable characters? I used the above clone ‘bug’ to make loads of people but there seems to be a limit (where the bodies start disappearing if there’s too many). Also the hack to stop them clipping through eachother and pile up neatly doesn’t seem to work. Any ideas?

That was a priceless moment, for sure. The third time through, I threw the can at the guy and ran away. It was great! I never did figure out if those guys could kill ya with their zap-o-battons, but I got hit plenty. I also figured out that they wouldn’t go through the fence spinner thing at the beginning.

My first time through, the most memorable moment for me involved the cart with the spinning blades at the end of the mines section. This is the one where you hit the switch, and the blades start spinning as the cart takes off uphill though the mine shaft. I fired it up and headed on up behind it, the sound fading off up ahead. A few seconds later the sound stopped fading; then it started getting louder, and I realized it was going to come all the way back to the start! That was one hairy moment: “Oh crap! It’s coming back! Gotta run, gotta run!” I made a mad leap over the barrier at the bottom just in time to hear the weed whacker hit the end and zoom back off into the distance. Whew!

My second time through, I realized I could just duck under the blades. :smack:
