Favorite Led Zeppelin song off of "Coda"

Yes, “Coda” was a rather thrown together post Zeppelin release, but despite what many say it has some very strong songs on it. My personal favorites being “We’re gonna groove” and “Wearing and tearing”, I was curious as to what others thought made “Coda” worthwhile…well, sort of worthwhile…

I just got the new DVD which opens with “Were Gonna Groove” and it reminded me of how strong that tune is.

I also loved the Bonham solo “Bonzo’s Montreux”.

  1. Bonzo’s Montreux

  2. Hot Dog

  3. Poor tom

  4. All of my love

Why do you ask?

“Hot dog” wasn’t on Coda, It was on “In through the out door”

My favorites are: “We’re gonna groove”, “Ozone Baby” and “Bonzo’s Montreaux” in that order.

Bonzo’s Montreux

Poor Tom

We’re gonna groove

All my love wasn’t on Coda either, again, it was on In through the Out Door.

OK, folks here’s the track listing for Coda:[ul]1. We’re Gonna Groove (Bethea/King) - 2:38
2. Poor Tom (Page/Plant) - 3:03
3. I Can’t Quit You Baby (Dixon) - 4:19
4. Walter’s Walk (Page/Plant) - 4:31
5. Ozone Baby (Page/Plant) - 3:37
6. Darlene (Bonham/Jones/Page/Plant) - 5:07
7. Bonzo’s Montreux (Bonham) - 4:19
8. Wearing and Tearing (Page/Plant) - 5:30[/ul]My favourites are I Can’t Quit You Baby and Wearing & Tearing. I think the rest are kind of a mixed bag.

Sorry all, I confuse the 2 albums all the time, I think because in my head, In through The Out Door was their “last” album.
Go figure.

If you get the new zep CDs, you can hear bits of one of the coda songs in one of the extended jams, bear with me, i just got the set:

i think it’s in dazed and confused, and i think the riff is from ozone baby. might be wearing and tearing though.

either way, it’s one of those ‘jimmy makes something up in a jam that later becomes a song’ thang. Gotta love those.

also snippets of ‘the crunge’ in that jam too.

Yeah its Wearing and Tearing. The live cds are simply AWESOME!! i think every zep fan should pick them up!!

I’ve always dug:

“We’re Gonna Groove” just due to Jimmy on that one. His tones and assorted parts are astounding. When Coda came out, I was shocked that this wasn’t used previously.

“Walter’s Walk”…again due to Jimmy. He’s got a FABULOUS riff. Very exciting song. Bonzo is gettin’ it on this one. Loved the drum sound.

“Darlene”…for Robert’s voice. He sounds at the top of his game here. Sounds like he’s having a lot of fun on this tune and the general vibe of the band is upbeat. Lovely tune.

All of my favorite Led Zeppelin songs were off of Coda. And on other albums.

The live version of “I can’t quit you babe” recorded during a sound check for god’s sake, Robert sounds like he’s putting everything he has into it, and the ebb and flow of the slow blues groove is just perfect

I love Groove, Darlene (agree with Cholo about the energy here), Poor Tom, and I Can’t Quit You… Baaa-by, and Bonzo’s Montreaux is a real showcase piece.
