Favorite Post World War II First Lady ?

Michelle Obama, who dealt with everything (including a spate of disgustingly racist attacks comparing her to apes or worse) with incredible grace and class.

Mrs. Clinton and Mrs. Obama were attacked pretty fiercely.

Now, I agree, she has her hands full with that husband of hers. That’s a shame for her, I guess. But I don’t see how that would make her a favorite.

Me too.

Like you, I’m interested in the First Ladies who worked to make a positive difference.

Michelle Obama being drop-dead gorgeous doesn’t hurt, either.

I like first ladies who actually did something. Michelle Obama and her children’s health initiatives really set her apart from the others. Plus, she’s so darn personable and likable! Both of the Bush first ladies had literacy initiatives, which I appreciated as well. I mean, I was a kid when Book-It became a huge national program as part of the late 80s push for children’s literacy. Clinton also helped with healthcare initiatives.

But I’m going with Obama, then the Bush first ladies for a tie for second.

Was Johnson really a “pig”? It’s hard for me to call someone that who did as much for racial equality as he did. I’ve heard that he could be really crude and obnoxious and sometimes a huge asshole, and that he was a womanizer, but still, someone has to be pretty fucking bad before I call them a pig. Johnson’s overall legacy was positive.

Obama by a mile.

If she divorced him while he is President, she would rise in my estimation a lot. She needs to stand up for herself and separate herself from him.

I meant as a husband, and I think there’s ample evidence of that. Worse than Clinton or Kennedy by a long shot, and openly proud of it.
