Favorite products which have mysteriously vanished from store shelves

What happened to chocolate altoids? Can’t find them anywhere! :frowning:

Pear Pimm’s.

Here in the states, you can still get Orange and Raspberry, but apparently the Pear is only sold in Canada.

I loved 'em…

That post just brought me back to the early-mid 90’s. Ahhh! Used to love this as a kid. I would devour a whold box of this in 2 days.

Fi-Bars came in several flavors, but raspberry is the only one I can think of offhand. No chocolate ones, I don’t think.

And I’m saddened to learn there are no more Lemon Keeblers. Hadn’t thought about those in ages, but now that I know they’re gone, I miss them. :frowning:

Crest Vanilla Mint toothpaste.

Secret Vanilla Chai deodorant (hey, I like vanilla flavored stuff. :stuck_out_tongue: )

Carnation Breakfast Squares (but this was many, many years ago. I still miss them.)

They discontinued the Golden Raisin Biscuits, too. A pair of flat, glazed, kinda sweet crackers with a raisin filling. Really pretty blah tasting, but I still get cravings for them.

They can be had, at the usual exorbitant price, in the baby boomer’s Big Book of Nostalgia that is called The Vermont Country Store catalog.

And Aldi’s food store makes a very similar version, with apples and raisins, in their cookie/snack food aisle.

But I’m really upset that the Shake n Bake BBQ coating seems to be gone. Oh, there’s crumb coating, but the powdered BBQ sauce for chicken was really special. Can’t find it, though I’ll keep looking in Big Lots and places.

Three things:
-Jovan ginseng cologne-loved that stuff!
-Chicken Bones candy-a soft chewy core surrounded by crackly sugar-great!
-“Quality Street” assorted licorice pieces (from England)-Nobody carries them anymore-Gawd-I loved them!

I’ve seen big jars of “Turkey Bones” which are like Chicken Bones, in the grocery store, before Christmas (for gifts). They’re usually in the gift-food section with boxes of cheese samples, layered jars of cookie mix in jars, fruit baskets, tea samplers…

Ooh. Added to grocery list. I’ll have to see if I can find some around here. Edited to add I might try just adding some real vanilla to diet coke–a co-worker brought some stuff back from Mexico that I want to try.

I just bought a tin of ginger Altoids, but I didn’t like them. (Sorry!)

My parents had a cat that lived for 19 years on Tender Vittles.

Lea and Perrins White Wine Worcestershire sauce. Absolutely brilliant on roast chicken. It’s out there somewhere but the stores around me have stopped carrying it.

This is not something on store shelves, but do any places still offer chocolate Cokes over the counter? When the wife and I were students in Hawaii, we’d often go the food court in Ala Moana shopping mall for a chocolate Coke. On our last visit there, the place had been remodeled, and no more chocolate Cokes! Man, those were good.

Anyone mention Altoids Sours? They came in a few flavors – all I remember are apple and tangerine.

Hardly anyone I’ve mentioned them to knows what they are. :frowning: I’ve kept a tin of the tangerine sours (candy-less, of course) to hold lots and lots of loose change.

There are a few items on my list.

Raisin Grape Nuts. Dumping regular raisins in a bowl of Grape Nuts just don’t cut it.

Uncle Ben’s Cinnamon & Rice pudding. I know they still make it, I just can’t get it here.

And I loved the orange flavored Gatorade energy bars. Now all they have is the basic blah lineup. Chocolae chip, peanut butter, & oatmeal raisin,

I still miss Fib Ribs.

And crullers from Dunkin Donuts.

I love Polar Brand soda-it is nice because it has a lot less sugar than other brands-they make the only orange soda I can drink. The birch beer is still made…oddly enough, Polar seems to have very limited distribution, outside of the Worcester area-though it is carried by a loal independednt chain (Johnnie’s), and Hanaford as well.

FroYo, frozen yogurt. Loved that stuff. They made a lemon flavor that was super tart and an orange that tasted so nummy. I think I last saw it around 1983 or so.

Sunkist used to have a mandarin orange flavor - late 80’s - that I really liked as it was the closest to an orange soda I became addicted to in Norway.

Bertolli’s Pork Cavatappi. Awesome dish. Best of the bunch, and even better after I finished tweaking it with hot sauce, beef broth, chardonnay and romano cheese.
A few years ago, I fixed it for a post-show theater cast party - all 12 gallons of it. Seven or eight bags of the stuff!

Not only did the cast and crew of 15 polish it off, i had people in the kitchen spooning out what little was left from the bottom of the cooking pot. Now suddenly it’s nowhere to be found. I’ve complained to Wal-Mart, Kroger and Marsh. No joy. :frowning:

Skippy Honey Roasted Nut Super Chunk peanut butter. It’s easy to find the creamy still, but the chunky is nowhere to be found. I actually sent an email to Skippy, and they responded back with three stores an hour away from me that still carry it. I’m sorry, but I’m not going to drive two hours just to get peanut butter.

Back when I used an electric razor, AftaShave made a liquid, alcohol-based lotion that you applied before shaving. I loved it, but it mysteriously disappeared after a while. I’ve since gone back to a manual razor, and am happier with it.

Iron cologne - my boyfriend loved it - and so did lots of other people. Judging by what I found when I tried to get it over the internet, it’s not coming back and it’s much lamented.

Shasta colas- brought up by a few people above - gosh, just how many flavors were there anyway?

For my personal favorite - are Milkshake bars still around? (I’d come to the yard for those)

Revlon used to make a great lipstick called Bold Berry that was the BEST shade of soft red……now GONE! I hate having to find a new go-to shade that goes with everything!
Anyone else remember Carnation Breakfast bars? I used to devour those by the fistful back in the 80’s (the last time I remember them existing). Maaaaannn…those were excellent! and sadly, long gone.:frowning:
