Favorite products which have mysteriously vanished from store shelves

Here are a few; I’m curious to see if anyone else remembers them:

**Rondo **soda (“slam it down!”)

Danish-Go-Rounds - double yummy.

Jello 1-2-3 - pretty sure this was mentioned before.

Funny Face - Kool-Aid-type drink mix. Rootin’-Tootin’ Raspberry, Loud-Mouth Lime, Freckle-Face Strawberry, Goofy Grape, Chinese Cherry & Injun Orange (they changed those last two).

King Vitamin cereal.
mmm

I remember them all.
I really miss the Danish Go Rounds, far superior to Pop-Tarts.

Garygnu, thank you! I found some vanilla syrup at the grocery store today–sugar free, even (Splenda, instead). I am now enjoying a diet vanilla coke, and I am a happy woman!

I liked the Altoids tangerine sours, too, and the tins were so useful for dimes, safety pins, car ashtray…

I remember it–to the extent that I still remember that it was actually “King VitamAn,” and I also remember the jingle: “King Vitaman, have breakfast with the King!”

BTW…enjoy!

Sure, I remember Funny Face - 1960s ? (!)

Also, King Vitamin.

Danish-Go was good.

King Viatamin was good, with milk or dry.

I remember Funny Face Kool-Aid, too. King Vitamin cereal sounds sort of familiar.

They sell King Vitaman at the Sav-Mor I shop at. Product 19 too for some reason.

We still have it here in Alabama. In fact, I just finished a 2-liter this morning!

I also like getting Vanilla Coke at Sonic…yummmmm! But that’s also due to the ice “pellets” they have!

I don’t know how many people are still reading the thread after 6 pages. But I wanted to share this.

If your store doesn’t carry a product you want then ask them to get it. This works better at smaller neighborhood stores, but I have done it at big mega marts as well. They almost always will stock the product you request. It is great for them in building customer loyalty and if you are going in to get that special product what are the chances you will leave without buying something else as well?

I know that won’t work for things that are no longer being produced or things that are only available regionally but for stuff you just can’t find locally it can solve your problem.

I thought it was just me. The number of products I have found that, as soon as I like them, disappear is baffling:

Chai Oats - pour in some hot water. Bingo. Filling, tasty lo-cal breakfast. Only ever saw them once.

Stir-fry vegetables - one of the big companies (Birds Eye, Edgells). Fresh veges sealed in a pouch. Enough for 2 people. Just add to stir fry. Perfect. Never saw them again.

Cappuccino soy milk - I hate soy milk. A friend introduced me to this and it was great. A month later - gone.

Mashed pumpkin/sweet potato - someone made it a while ago. Now gone.

Fruit Juice with Lemon Myrtle - best fruit juice on earth. Bye bye.

Ginger Altoids are awesome and harder to find than Jimmy Hoffa. Chocolate covered Altoids are also very, very elusive.

Nacho Cheese Tostitos. Sigh. I used to practically live on these things back in the late 70’s, early 80’s. They were so much better than Doritos. But, I have not seen them in about 20 years…

And I miss “Like” cola. I did actually like it better than Coke. Oh, and 7-UP Gold, with a hint of cinnamon. I’d love to watch an episode of Love Boat while sipping on a 7-Up Gold and munching on nacho cheese Tostitos…

Rachel’s Brownies–brownies with an amazing fudgy texture, until they were bought out by a big company who ruined them and then made them disappear. You could buy them as little individual brownies or in a tray that I think weighed a whole pound. Mmmmmmm.
Marathon Bars–mmm, braided candy, and a foot long…
Big Buddy gum–also a foot long…
Danny Bars–frozen yogurt popsicles in berry flavors with a chocolate coating.
Tiger’s Milk powder–delicious stuff, I still remember the taste of the silty sludge that was left at the bottom of the glass. Disappeared when they were bought by Weider.
Pepsi Lite–lemon flavored cola, much better than the Pledge-flavored stuff out now.
Buc-Wheats cereal–the shiny flakes had the most maple flavor.
Haagen-Dazs honey and carob flavors. No sugar! (Loaded with honey, but hey)

Oh! And diet cherry 7-Up. Tasted like a Shirley Temple.

You can still get these–they’re called “Curly Wurly” and they’re British. Smaller than a Marathon but exactly the same bar.

Don’t know where you are, but many grocery stores around here carry this; at least did the last time I bought toothpaste, a month-ish ago.
goes off to brush teeth with fennel

Lime scented shaving products. Just can’t find them anywhere.

If you live in New Zealand (or Australia and know where to shop), you can get a Pixie Caramel which is basically a much bigger (and “solid”) chocolate and caramel bar. They’re very nice indeed.

Unless you shop at Bloom (a division of Food Lion). I like Chobani 0% Plain Greek Yogurt. They carry it. Only in individual serving sizes. I want 16 oz or whatever containers with multiple servings in them. A) They should be cheaper, B) they are better for the environment, and C) I can determine my own GD serving size, thankyouverymuch.

I have asked them several times to carry the larger sizes of something they are already carrying. I have filled out their little special request forms several times. They still don’t carry them. I have even mentioned it directly to Chobani rep I met while she was shopping in my store. I now shop elsewhere. I don’t know what’s wrong with those nitwits.

I also miss Chocodiles. It is painful to know that they are still in production but I don’t live in any of the five states that they are distributed to. The closest, Ohio, is a day’s drive from here.
