I remember those! I also liked Adirondack soda! Especially generic Mountain Dew.
Betty Crocker Microwave cake. You opened the box, put the carboard dish into the 'waver, nuked it for few minutes, iced it from the plastic can off the store shelf and dug in. Gone for 10-15 years in my areas.
Heinz Yellow Mustard. Hands down the best tasting mustard available. For years, the only way you could get a bottle was by visiting a restaurant that served it and swiping a bottle. Then a few years ago they started selling it in the supermarket. I know it sold well, at least around here, because it was frequently sold out at the store. But after a few months it suddenly disappeared again. You can occasionally find a Heinz “Snack Pack” that has ketchup, mustard, and relish, but never the mustard all by itself.
Also, the old Heinz Hot Ketchup. It disappeared many years ago. They now have a ‘new’ hot ketchup made with Tabasco sauce, but it’s not even close to the same taste. The old stuff was somewhere between ketchup and cocktail sauce. I’ve never found anything that was quite the same.
I think Heinz does it on purpose just to mess with me.

Cadbury Curly Wurly Bars (like the old Marathon Bars) from Jolly Grub, which carries British brands:
Did the store manager ever give you a good reason for not carrying it? How odd!
Great another 3 year old thread. Bye.
I’m not sure if I’ve ever spoken to the store manager. I spoke to people that seemed to know what they were doing and assured me this was a correct way to request things. Maybe I need to go in there and specifically ask for the SM. I just haven’t been back in a few months. I figured they just didn’t need my business. The Chobani rep said she’d look into it, though. I wonder if it’s there now.
There was another brand of hot ketchup-Snyder’s?-haven’t seen it in years.
Is it still made?
I have sensitive underarm skin. Suave used to make some deodorant that worked well, and was delightfully berry-scented. I can’t stand typical male deodorant scents. Well, I haven’t found it in years, and have to use the acceptable Arm and Hammer unscented.

I seem to recall that it was rated best in Cooks Illustrated less than 3 or 4 months ago. I’m guessing it’s still available in some places.

I love the tangerine sours- when I’m at Walgreens today I’ll see if they still carry them. SO GOOD!
Ditto to the person who said:
This happens to me all the time, too.
I LOVED the Rimmel “vinyl” lip gloss. There were two colors that looked great on me, “snog” (which I suspect is a dirty British word) and “pose.” Because I loved them so much, I KNEW they would eventually be discontinued, and sho 'nuff, they were, but by then I had stockpiled a few tubes. Heh heh. I still have some unopened ones. They were cheap, too.
Monin Orange-flavored coffee syrup. Or anyone’s orange-flavored coffee syrup, for that matter. I used to get it at World Market but no more. Starbucks used to have Valencia syrup, which was orange-flavored. That whisper of orange was a perfect marriage with the dark bitterness of coffee. I guess I can order it online, but geez…
I agree with the poster who likes unfrosted Pop Tarts, and you’re right, strawberry is the only unfrosted flavor left.
I have seen Mane & Tail shampoo at Wal-Mart.
I forgot to add… apropos of stuff being discontinued when the People in the Sky find out you like it:
I drove an AMC Pacer for 13 years and loved it back in the late 70’s-early 80’s. The Pacer got decent mileage, but the best thing about it was that it was small on the outside but big on the inside, like Dr. Who’s phone booth. I worked downtown and often had to park at meters. If I could find a space one inch longer than the car, I could park it. It was comfortable and maneuverable. I actually drove a new one for 11 years, then bought an identical used one for $600 and drove it another two years. (I consider them one car.)
In 1997 I bought a Saturn and LOVED IT! In 2007, I traded it in at 250,000 miles on another Saturn…
Are you seeing a pattern here?
Yeah, don’t you dare buy peanut butter.
Oh my gods. I loved that stuff growing up. Another one was Motlow’s Tennessee Pepper Pot, kind of a cracked pepper creamy dressing. I’ve missed them both for years now.
Heh. I was wondering if I could make a career out of getting companies to pay me NOT to buy their products.
Spice cake mix-which when combined with one can of canned pumpkin (not the pie mix) and an egg, makes delicious pumpkin spice muffins.
Vanilla yogurt Cheerios. #2 son and I would scarf these down–they weren’t too sweet. The strawberry ones are horrid.
I can’t remember the name of it, but Squeeze or Juice(?). It was a 10 calorie drink with vitamins made by Tropicana(?) in nectarine, orange, lemon and grapefruit flavors. I think it also had some flavor combos as well. Nothing was a thirst quenching ice cold on a hot summer day. They weren’t around for long, and now are no more.
Hven’t seen these in years-they were like small conrn chips-ecept clam flavored-delicious!
anybody know if they are still made?
Skinny Cow Low Carb Ice Cream sandwiches. They were so good. They only had 4 carbs per sandwich, they tasted like normal ice cream, and they weren’t full of strange chemicals to make up for the lack of sugar. They completely satisfied my ice cream craving to the point that I never even gave a thought to buying Ben and Jerry’s–I just got my Skinny Cow and I was happy.
And now there’s nothing but low-fat ice cream. I knew that the low carb mania would eventually disappear, but I didn’t think the really good things would disappear so quickly. It’s a tragedy.
Can’t tell if you’re joking or not, but just in case you aren’t–“snog” is slang for “kiss” in British English.
