Bullitt - Steve McQueen

Try to imagine this without that music!

Whoa, can’t believe I typed “Reynolds”. Sorry, brain dead today.

When Truman starts to question his environment, (the revolving door scene, right after the “cast” of the show all stop in their tracts, and put their hands over their ears when there’s a high pitch noise in their ear pieces), in The Truman Show. I love the music. I rewind that scene over and over when I watch the film… Great acting.

When the moon turns into a search light in The Truman Show.

When Truman’s boat runs into ‘the sky’ in The Truman Show.

When Charlie Kaufman, (played by Nicolas Cage), is nervous with the woman sitting across from him, and starts thinking about what she’s thinking. Listing all his faults in his head, in Adaptation.

When Barry Egan starts to cry after realizing that his plan to get frequent-flyer miles to meet the love of his life in Hawaii wont work out. He breaks down for a short time, but picks himself up, and goes to Hawaii anyway, in Punch-Drunk Love.

The opening scene in Once Upon a Time in the West. It’s even better if you watch it in German:
*
“Haben Sie ein Pferd für mich?”

“Nein. Wir haben nur drei. Ein zu wenig.”

“Nein. Zwei zu viel!”*

“The In-Laws” (the original with Peter Falk and Adam Arkin, not the poor remake) scene where they were getting off the plane in Tijuara, and Falk’s character kept yelling “Serpentine” and Arkin’s.

Serpentine Shel!l

John Wayne finds Maureen O’Hara at his house in The Quiet Man and kisses her properly.

Peter O’Toole blows out a match.

Sharif Ali riding out of the desert in Lawrence of Arabia.

The mob ‘fight’/show opening scene/swinging from the balcony ending to My Favorite Year.

Puttin’ on the Ritz from Young Frankenstein.

The China-man is not the issue!

That part in the olden-days version of “A Christmas Carol” when Scrooge (Alastair Sim) wakes up on Christmas morning and looks in the mirror - if you look in the mirror behind him you can see a stagehand come around the curtain, realize he’s accidentally in the shot and go back behind the curtain.

“If they move, kill 'em!” from The Wild Bunch.
The bone in the air turning into the space shuttle in 2001: A Space Odyssey.
The breakfast scene from Citizen Kane.
Harry Lime’s face being illuminated after the cat has found him in The Third Man.

Use enough dynamite there Butch?

On the flip side: William Holden & Kim Novak Dancing in the Movie Picnic

So many to choose from…

Jaws - Quint’s speech about the USS Indianapolis.

The Empire Strikes Back - Obi Wan never told you what happened to your father.

Fight Club - His name is Robert Paulson

Kill Bill Vol II : Bill’s speech about Superman being his favorite super hero.

No Country For Old Men : The clerk in the store…“call it…”

A View To A Kill : Zorin’s blimp meeting…“does anyone else wanna drop out?”

The Dark Knight : EVERY SCENE WITH THE JOKER.

There are many scenes in Boogie Nights that I can watch over and over (the long take set to The Emotions’ “Best of My Love” that introduces a lot of the cast at the beginning of the movie; the other long take set to Three Dog Night’s “Mama Told Me Not to Come” that introduces the rest of the cast later in the movie; the scene set to Rick Springfield’s “Jessie’s Girl” toward the end of the movie), but I think my favorite is the scene set to Sniff ‘N the Tears’ “Driver’s Seat.” It starts down low by introducing Floyd Gondoli, played by Philip Baker Hall, and moves up to the entrance of Todd Parker, played by Thomas Jane, who crashes through a gate accompanied by the incongruous but wonderful sound of screeching tires.

The scene’s on YouTube; there’s some naughty language and other NSFW content so I won’t link to it, but searching “Boogie Nights” and “Driver’s Seat” will bring it right up.

Dude, Asian-American, please.

Pretty much every single close-up on Cary Grant’s face from Arsenic and Old Lace, not to mention when he’s describing the play to Officer whatzit and “I’M THE SON OF A SEA-COOK!”

The Hudsucker Proxy: Mailroom scene; diner scene (That gag’s so old it’s got whiskas on it!).

Brazil: Harry Tuttle, Heating Engineer

Tombstone: Pretty much everything w/ Doc Holliday, but I’ll single out him twirling his tin cup.

“I can eat 50 eggs,” from Cool Hand Luke.

And when Powers Boothe says to Kurt Russell as they are leaving town in a wagon, “Bye.”

Animal House - The Toga Party with Otis Day and the Knights
The Graduate - The scene where Ben breaks up the wedding;" ELAINE!"
Blow - At the end where George (Depp) in prison, imagines his daughter is visiting him.
The Odd Couple - Felix turns maudlin and ruins Oscar’s planned fun-night with the “coo-coo” Pigeon sisters.
Goldfinger - Gert Frobe (Goldfinger) loses his last fight with 007 and gets sucked out the jet window.

Gonna go out on a limb here and say you kinda liked The Truman Show…

Dear god I forgot this scene :smack:

And this! “Thall…Shall Not…PASS!!!”

Predator (1987)—“CONTACT!”

Any of my other choices would just be personal, sentimental picks. But this is the one that’s a true cinematic classic.
