Favorite SNL host/entire show

Good morning,

Favorite skit:
Frank Zappa as Lorraine Newman’s date in a Conehead skit.

Favorite musical act:
Joe Cocker singing “with a little help from my friends” as a duet with John Belushi doing an impression of Joe Cocker.

I agree with everyone!

No, no…I haven’t even seen the show much in the last eight years or so. I love Christopher Walken, I love Tom Hanks (I mean, we’re still talking about hosting duties)…

I think the sketch that had me most thoroughly on the floor was on Weekend Update with Mike Myers playing Mick Jagger…and Mick Jagger playing Keith Richards (almost completely unintelligible, smoking like a chimney). I hurt myself laughing at that one.

There was an episode several years back where Sting was the host and musical guest that was excellent. One of the skits had Phil Hartman playing Frank Sinatra and Sting was playing Billy Idol, and Phil was hosting a talk show. Jan Hooks played Sinead O’Conner and Chris Rock played a band member from 2 Live Crew (I think). It was HILARIOUS! One of my favorite lines from that was Phil Hartman when he was threatening Sting: “I got chunks of guys like you in my stool!”
I also agree that the episode with Kiefer Sutherland was funny. I was pleasantly surprised that he was able to do a Scottish accent so well. It seems like a lot of actors have problems doing accents (Kevin Costner in Robin Hood comes to mind).

Hamy- that Mick Jagger/Keith Richards thing was great, I agree.

Speaking of Sting:
Do you guys remember “The Nude Crusade”? (And incidentally- who was playing the Pope in that sketch?)
Hehe, Sting stripping down out of that velcro outfit was pretty priceless.

I liked Jeff Goldblum’s monologue but never got to see any sketches with him. “So was it scary, running away from the dinosaurs?” “No…no, they weren’t real!” (Or something like that.)

Mark McKinney was the Pope.

I loved that FatBusters sketch. “Ride The Snake!”

William Shatner, in the Get-A-Life show. That sketch alone would have been enough, but it also had an opening with him as “Ollie North, the Mute Marine” and a funny Star Trek spoof later on. Doesn’t get better than that.

I agree with all those who like Baldwin as a host. He is hilarious on NPR. Shweaty balls (rum balls) and the Shweaty weiner. That stuff cracks me up.

I’m not sure why Goodman doesn’t do it for me. I just find him…hm…well, I just don’t think he’s a good actor.

All hail to the Sean Connery impersonations, though - they crack me up.

“I’ll take The Rapists, Alex!”
“That’s THERAPISTS!”

Tibs.

No, Jesse Jackson read Green Eggs and Ham on the news. Perhaps one of the best bits in the history of the show.

I do not like them, Sam I am
I do not like green eggs and ham.
