Favorite song about where you live

From Nothing to Nowhere

Bleed into your shoes, Man.

That was going to be my pick, even though I’m about 40 miles away.

If that doesn’t count, there’s “Help I’m A Rock” by the Mothers of Invention, with the line that goes “Who could imagine that they would freak out somewhere in Kansas?”

Dennehy by Serengeti is peppered with fun Chicago references.
The video sure has me missing summer.

“Ohio” by Crosby, Stills, Nash & Young.

“Four Dead In O-Hi-O” is the unofficial state motto.

Reminds me of this song:

I thought they were German? :dubious:

Well, the original lineup had 2 Germans, 2 Hungarians, one Dutch, and one Afrikaaner. But in that video, they were wearing vaguely Russian-esque costumes.

I Love My Green bay Packers

Cigarette State” from Robbie Fulks.

Good call, sir.

How about The Black Ball Ferry Line?

I thought they were ABBA:confused:

Khe Sanh by Cold Chisel.

If you want to go with something more traditional
Botany Bay in this version by John Williamson

My Hometown– Girl Trouble

“Who needs a house out in Hackensack” comes closest to where I live.

Here’s my submission: The New Basement Tapes - “Kansas City”

A really fantastic song with an interesting story behind it:

"Following a motorcycle accident in 1967, Bob Dylan retreated to upstate New York where he would go on to record the original Basement Tapes.

Forty-seven years later, a selection of hand-written lyrics from the period surfaced that were never made into songs.

In early 2014, world-renowned produced T Bone Burnett recruited five of today’s finest musicians to write and create music for the long-lost lyrics."

The Kings - This Beat Goes On/Switchin to Glide

Can’t believe I’m the first to mention…

I’ve been Everywhere - originally written by australian Geoff Mack but re-recorded many times, including Hank Snow and Johnny Cash.

I’ll go with the Stompin Tom version

Listen for your town!

If it helps, YYZ is the airport code for Toronto Pearson International.

Ha!

Possible alternative: Hackensack by Fountains of Wayne.

Errr…thanks but every Canadian and Rush fan know that… as well as all the lyrics to The Kings only real hit.
