Favorite Soothing Female Vocalists?

(I’m Always) Chasing Rainbows: https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=-sLWH8SnDo4

Not my favorite voice, but the OP asked for most soothing.

Brazilian Paula Fernandes

Amartuwshin Baasandorj is the amazing vocalist with the Mongolian group Egschiglen.

I know I would certainly come running up to the fence if I heard this!

I find all of her stuff soothing, apart from the fact that it makes me feel stuff. I mean, I Can’t See New York has a nice gentle sound to it, as long as you fail to attend to the subject matter.

I enjoyed that and watched a couple of her other videos. Thanks!

Needs more c— uh, nevermind.

All depends on what soothes you. Melanie Oesch does it for me.

Princess Chelsea is very soothing to me.

Aoife O’Donovan - one of a recent wave of acoustic players. Nice songwriting, too.
Porch Light
Magpie.
Plus she sings ‘murder of crows’ so what’s not to like?

Eefje de Visser - she sings in Dutch but I can listen to her for hours. I think her songs are a big part of her ‘soothing’ quality, not just her voice.
Ongeveer
Schip

I’m unclear. So that’s a “no” for Norah??

I’m surprised it took so long for the posting above for Eva Cassidy

Sublime — thank you. Also her “Autumn Leaves.”
I am bookmarking this thread.

Spifflog — Johanna did mention Eva Cassidy upthread.

Anyway…Mary Chapin Carpenter (e.g., “Dead Man Walking.”)

Yep, **spifflog **did acknowledge my post, so all good.

I like to fall into the sound of Annie Lennox/Eurythmics. One friend of mine claims that it sounds like there is something broken in her voice, but the sound of it beckons to the ancient Pict in me.

Shivaree (Ambrosia Parsley). I discovered them by stumbling upon them playing live on the lounge side of a restaurant I went to for dinner. The owner came to our table and encouraged us to go next door for the last few songs of the show. When it was over, I bought their CD on the spot, and got it autographed – only time I’ve ever done that. I continue to be surprised that they never made it bigger than they did. Came here to add Aoife, along with Sarah Jarosz and their trio work with Sarah Watkins, as “I’m with her”.

Vienna Teng should also be on this list.

(Your choice of “Magpie” as an exemplar of her work is spot on, too.)
