Though they’ve gotten a little weird lately, I am a big fan of hearing new treatments of songs I like. Two of my favorites to date are both Cohen tributes: Tower of Song and I’m Your Fan.
The results are always interesting if not always good.

Considering that most tribute albums tend to be “Sucky No-Name Hacks Play The Beloved Greats of Your Favorite Bands, Badly” I have something of a skewed view of the concept. That said, Whore - Various Artists Play Wire is great. You wanna know why? Because it was the band that solicited the covers and produced and distributed the album (try to mangle a great song when its creators are looking over your shoulder). And it features, as far as I know, the last proper song from My Bloody Valentine.
Are there other good ones? No. Not one. And they should stop trying.
