Favourite Christmas song?

My favourite Christmas song is White Wine In The Sun by Tim Minchin.

Funny, intelligent and sentimental.

Silent Night and The First Noel are my two favorites.

If I had to pick just one it would be The First Noel.

Walking in an Essex Wonderland

*You can make an ornament from a Bud Can
And then yous can hang it from the tree
‘Sherry are you pregnant?’, she’ll say ‘No man’
But I’m 13 so ain’t it time to be?
We’re calling Donnie up in jail
We’re raising money to post his bail
Our neighbor is cranked and Uncle Jimmy is tanked
We’re walking in an Essex Wonderland

 Happy Holidays Hon

Did you know the original was a fairly morbid song written during WWII. The lyrics were changed for Judy Garland to make it more cheery.

The lyrics were changed a second time in 1957 because Frank Sinatra still thought they weren’t jolly enough.

So the feel of the song changed quite a bit from the original.

For my fellow Yinzers, “Santa Claus is Goin’ Dahntahn” by Johnny Angel and the Halos
Then theres "You’re A Mean One, Mr. Grinch by the Raleigh Ringers.

Celine Dion’s version of O Holy Night. Those six Noels in the last verse often give me goosebumps.

The following are my top three favorites.

“Fall Softly Snow”-Jim Ed Brown & Helen Cornelius
“What Do You See?”-Sonya Isaacs
“Only You Can Bring Me Cheer”-Alison Krauss

God bless you and them always!!!

Holly (a fan of Alison since 1994)

The ones I personally make a point of listening to each Christmas:

Serious: This version of “I Heard the Bells on Christmas Day

Not so serious: “Satan Claus

“Winter Wonderland” - Harry Connick, Jr.

“Winter” - The Mellomen backed by Spike Jones.

Jorma Kaukonen “Downhill Sleigh Ride”

To me no one sings “O Little Town Of Bethlehem” better than Kenny Chesney and no one sings “Silver Bells” better than Travis Tritt.

God bless you and them always!!!
