favourite slogans/catch phrases

I’m taking a media course in highscool and one of our assignments is to remark on why certain slogans or ad campaigns stick in our heads, what makes them so popular. So i thought i would get the popular opinion from the teeming millions to guide the way. Anyone have any particular favourite commercial, slogan, spokesperson? or anything related to advertising really, what stands out in your mind? which ads do you absolutely hate? Thanks for the input ya’ll
p.s (two all beef patties, special sauce lettuce cheese pickles oinions on a sesame seed bun. ← got that one covered, cause i know someone was thinking it

“If you can’t answer a man’s argument, all is not lost; you can still call him vile names.” - Elbert Hubbard.

well, this isn’t a Great Debate, so it will likely get moved, but here goes anyway.

I loved the Christmas time commercial for Toys-R-Us with the “raincheck” kid. Instead of his favorite toy, he got a raincheck. He’s playing with it outside on the swing, playing videogames with it, and chanting “Go Raincheck! Go Raincheck!” This ad stuck in my head because the kid was so damned cute, and the idea of a kid loving a raincheck was way too funny.

I remember the ad and the kid vividly, everyone I know that saw it LOVED it, and most importantly I remember the lesson of the ad and the company it was for.

In contrast, my most hated commercials are for Old Navy. They are just annoying as heck. The lady with the big glasses is ridiculous.

Voted “Most Empathetic”- can you believe that?

The funniest part about the Toys R Us commercial was when they cut to the two stunned kids watching raincheck boy.

My 8-year old nephew has learned that annoying adult habit of overreacting to and feigning gratitude for gifts. You could give him a box of used kitty litter and he’d pretend it was just what he always wanted. I’m ashamed to say that last Christmas we took to calling him “Raincheck Boy” behind his back.

If this thread wasn’t mundane and pointless before, it sure is now. Sorry.
