Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas

By the way the :wally was directed at myself.

In what way is the picture quality not as good, vinryk? I’ve seen the movie well over twenty times, both versions intermittently, and really haven’t noticed any big difference.

Granted, I was in various states of sobriety during all my viewings, but still…

I’ve been meaning to ask what Gonzo journalism is. Is that all? Just an overblown writing of a true story? Doesn’t sound like the best way to get to the truth. Still, I’ll read anything if it’s entertaining, true or not.

Circuit City was completely out of Fear and Loathing DVDs. Apparently, a lot of people within a short period of time had come in looking for it and it flew off shelves. The CC employee I asked told me this about as soon as I got done asking if they had it. I wonder if the news of a new HST movie has sparked a new interest in Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas. A place in my mall had a copy, but it was then $40 critereon edition, and I decided to hold off reading vinryk thoughts on it. So I picked up Army of Darkness Boomstick Edition for $20, which is something I’ve been menaing to buy for a long time. After all, what’s a DVD library without an Evil Dead movie?

I’ve reserved a DVD from the Nashville Library.
I get to see it free.
:stuck_out_tongue:

I vote : Brilliant, for both the book and film (haven’t seen ‘Buffalo…’. Why bother after Gilliam made his film?)

My favorite part of the book, which didn’t quite make it into the movie with the same text, is the bit about the camera in the casino that projected the persons’ image 200’ tall outside on the wall of the building. I wouldn’t do it justice if I tried to recreate it here. Maybe I need to reread it…

Just a FYI, but Where the Buffalol Roam predates FaLiLV by 18 years.

That’s the chatroom version of the book, right?

Now THAT was a disappointing special edition. Their “digital remastering” consisted solely of lowering the brightness and upping the contrast throughout the entire movie. Results in a LOT of scenes that are WA-A-A-AY too dark. Ruins it, in my opinion.

Although the original ending is amusing. Makes me think that, with just a skosh better production value, Army of Darkness coulda been a major cinematic smash.
