Fear of roaches....logical?

What i mean is how much harm can a roach really cause. Is it possible for any breed to bite a human? Do they carry disease? Should houshold roaches be exterminated with extreme prejudice?

cockroaches do carry diseases and can cause allergy problems. i learned all i wanted to know about them from the seventh entry in the Google search, “cockroaches.” it’s a Newton’s Apple Teacher’s Guide on the subject.

It’s all well and fine to say that roaches carry disease and cause allergy problems. It’s even okay to say all that stuff twice  But I do know this: You can say the same thing about wild mice inhabiting your house; but I feel bad about killing the mousies, and I don’t feel bad in the least about killing the roaches!

Roaches can carry pathogens, dirt and other contaminants on their feet, as well as in their waste. All this stuff gets spread around whereever the roach roams, which is how they cause disease. The shed exoskeletons are the cause of the allergy problems.

Besides, the little buggers will eat the wiring in your appliances, and they’re not nearly so cute as mice. That’s why no one feels bad about killing them.

They burrow inside your ears!

This reminds me of my sister and I confronting giant Bangladesh roaches in 1979 when our mother was working there.

Having backed one roach into a corner and trying to screw up our courage to go crush him, his sudden spreading of wings and flying escape (an ability of which were not previously aware) totally freaked us out and I can remember nothing else from the rest of that day.

Ok well to turn the question around…what helpfull purpose do roaches serve? Would there be any problems if all the roaches in the world were destroyed or would we just be rid of a pest?

We found a roach at work (only on, I’m glad to say), and I suggested this

Somehow it didn’t go over well with some of the people. :stuck_out_tongue:
