Oh and by the way,
Fuck you for trying to minimize the pain my family and my state has been feeling since the 11th. My mail is late and you have convinced me… It’s all the fukin UN’s fault.

I think EvilGhandi has some salient points. That said, I don’t want him anywhere near me.
I think the only thing we have left to determine is if he’s Northern frat boy white trash or Southern tornado-belt trailer town white trash.
We’ve seen anti-gay, anti-Canadian slants. So, Deep South, I’m looking in your direction…
EvilGhandi - a few FACTS:
From the good ol’ [US Government](How are dues to the UN calculated?):
How are dues to the UN calculated?
The U.S. is the only country which benefits from the maximum
rate ceiling; were it not for the 25% cap, the U.S. share of the
UN budget, under the established formula, would be somewhat higher.
How much do other countries contribute to the UN?
After the U.S., the other top contributors to the UN are: Japan
(15.5%); Germany (9.0%); France (6.5%); and the U.K. (5.5%).
How much does the U.S. owe the UN?
Assuming all FY-97 appropriations are released by the Congress,
the U.S. will owe: $54 million for the UN regular budget; $658
million of the UN peacekeeping; and around $250 million to the
UN specialized agencies.
Why is there a difference between what the UN says we owe
and the figures recognized by the U.S. Government?
Blah, blah, blah
NB. I haven’t cited from the UN website because it’s dealt with in more detail. However, the view of the UN is considerably less generous than that of the US State Department quoted above.
EvilGhandi – What that very biased US Government document tells us is that, even when the US pays its dues – which (in full) it doesn’t and has reneged on it’s promise not to try and re-negotiate it’s contribution yet again - it still pays less than any other country in the world under the agreed formula.
In relation to the UN, successive US Administrations – despite the spin they care to propagate to the US people- are cheapskates and backsliding liars. That, sir, is fact.
And I have no idea why you bring up the IMF. If you have an argument, please put it forward. If, however, you are referring to the World Bank, the position of the US Government is, IMHO, far uglier than it is in relation to the UN.
For the benefit of other posters, I’d like to comment that I do draw a distinction between, on the one hand, the people of the US and, on the other, what is done in their name by various Administrations and the spin those acts are given.
I think the main problem is the country’s name.
If we just changed it from Afghanistan to, say, Jenniferanistan, those people wouldn’t have the desire to eat anymore.
My mistake on the link above:
Um, you did? Or was it someone else?
