As recommended by several posts in this thread, Fairie Tale!
Riftwar and it’s sequels are well written, but as an adult… so-so. Fairie Tale is for grown-ups.
I am not sure I can agree with the point on lack of detail. Yes some parts may lack some but I think it was meant to be like that.
The point about Pugs training at the academy,
I think the lack of depth of detail in the methods gives it the air of mystery that the magicians on Kelewan were going for. Or maybe just to point out the differences between the lesser and greater paths of majic.
For the most part I find these books full of detail, maybe its just me but when i read them I get totally lost in them and each time I find yet some other small detail I never noticed before.
I didnt mention this in my other post but the one thing I love most
is how all 15 books(4 riftwar, 4 serpent war, 4 riftwar legacy and 3 servant of the empire) are all interconnected. All arent part of the same story but are connected. a similar thing is the movies with jay and silent bob in them(chasing amy, clerk, dogma etc)
