Felon WOW player drives across country to kill teenager.

Right, because if he wanted to shoot 4 people, 4 guns would make it much easier.

what was in the car suggested a Columbine sized event.

The WoW players here are gonna cut you!

Bullshit. What was in the car suggests a person with a bit of a compulsive disorder. Or a Boy Scout with issues.

There was no radioactive material, so he’s not a Boy Scout. He was caught collecting radioactive materials to build another reactor in August 2007.

He was on bail for mulitple firearms violations and he showed up wearing a police uniform trying to get to a child who refused his sexual advances. I’m not sure what multiple guns have with compulsive disorder but I say he planned something on a large scale.

I think this guy was about to have a massive shoot out too.

Nah, he wouldn’t give us any XP.

But what kind of loot might he drop?

Definitely no honor.

Check his quest log, might have needed to kill 10-20 people in which case he was properly equipped.

Hopefully its still on 0/20

Sounds like he just planned to camp the respawn area for a while.

Wait a minute and I’ll look him up first.

How did he find out where this kid lived? That’s what was really scary here. Did the kid give him personal information?

That’s something I would like to know too. But for all the people that are making jokes re World of Warcraft: this all hits very close to home. Madison is a kind of two - not six - degrees of separation kind of place. An event that could play out like this could have, it makes the blood run cold.

The kid very likely told the guy his name. It sounds like they were more or less friends on the game until El Loco asked for the naked pictures, which freaked the kid out. With a name and city, you can find most people if you’re determined enough.

Getting prospected for nude photos is a 1 in 100,000 sort of thing (for boys). That that guy is then an obsessive maniac drives that up to a 1 in 10,000,000 event. With this guy being captured, you’re pretty much safe for the next decade.

Without the background it is just kind of creepy too. And improbable that the felon would /t ‘Hey can I have a picture of you naked?’. They may have even chat for a while too.

Usual rules apply. Don’t reveal your identity online.

I was with you until the Monte Carlo fallacy.

The teen might have even had a Facebook page and either given the guy the address or told him enough personal info that stalker-dude could find him. I play WoW and know a number of my “guildmates” have exchanged Facebook addresses or posted the links on our personal website.
