Female Dopers: your help with Victoria's Secret sizing, please!

A friend has offered to buy me some swimwear online from Victoria’s Secret. They have some stuff I like well enough, and she has a discount coupon. So far, so good.

However, I’ve heard from several people that Victoria’s Secret sizing can be a little off. Most opinions seem to say that their sizes come up large.

I took a look at their [sizing chart](http://www2.victoriassecret.com/commerce/application/prodDisplay/?namespace=moreInfo&prnbr=ZN-204348&cgnbr=OSSWMMIRZZZ&moreInfoInd=sizeChart&groupCd= &dispMode=STANDARD&buttonClicked=btn_size_chart&selColor=) for swimwear, and measured myself. According to their sizing, I’d need a 40DD.

Now, I normally wear 36\ 38 C or D bra, depending on manufacturer. So 40DD seems a little excessive.

Any female Dopers got any words of wisdom? Please? I’d really like to look cute on my holiday, and my worn-out Speedo just isn’t going to cut it on a Greek beach.

Their sizing is weird. I would recommend ordering according to your regular bra size (maybe depending on the cut of the suit maybe 1 size bigger if it’s a tiny bikini top). They sized me at a 40DD as well and I wear the same bra size as you.

Thanks, LVgeogeek. Did you actually buy swimwear or bras from them, and then find out the sizing was off?

I was wondering if their sizing chart put me so huge to make room for the ‘removable padding’ in the tankini top that I’m interested in.

I buy bras there, well I did. I recently started buying bras as Fredericks of Hollywood. Better bras at better prices.

VS always sized me as a 40DD and I would put the bra on and the girls would be “swimming” and the band much too big.

I never buy swimsuits through catalogs. I only buy them if I can try them on. VS stores here don’t have swim wear. I do have friends that have bought their swim wear and they said buy for the corresponding bra size.

sorry it took me so long to respond
