This story is off the radar, but PGATour pre-qualifying is happening this month.
Pre-qualifiers are for players who absolutely have no status anywhere, recognized by the PGATour. About half the players who start at pre-qualifying advance to PGA Tour School, Stage I, to be played next month.
After 3 rounds Isabelle (Izzy) Beisiegel is in position to advance through this stage. Oddly, Izzy tried LPGA Stage I qualifying last week, and failed to be one of the top 30 to advance to the final stage.
As I write this, after three rounds, Izzy is T41 and the top 43 and ties advance to stage I. And yes she is playing the same tees as the guys.
Trying to qualify for the PGATour has been somewhat of an annual pilgrimage for Izzy, she has paid $5000 each of the past 5 or 6 years with little to no success.
This gal has also been unable to qualify for the LPGA tour for the last couple of years. She has been a tour member in the past though.
If she has another solid round tomorrow, she should advance.
