Female NCIS fans: would you date Gibbs?

OK. Slaps aren’t acceptable. Either he can tell whatshisface that the next step is getting written up, or he can get the guy fired. Slaps aren’t the way to deal with your underlings, if you are not involved in illegal activity.

Tony kind of likes the slaps. Or, rather, he misses them when they’re gone, because they’re evidence that Gibbs cares about him. Anyway, they’re apparently acceptable in the NCISverse (though technically not to Department of Defense human resources.

Frankly, if I knew that a man was prone to slapping his underlings, I’d be worried about him slapping ME, or worse, in a dating situation.

I’m not sure why I’m defending Gibbs here, but I’m fairly sure that Gibbs would die before hitting a woman he was dating. No, scratch that; he’d die before hitting a woman not actively attacking him with a knife or a gun.

It’s bad enough that he’s had three divorces. Once is an accident, twice is a coincidence, three times is enemy action. I could believe that one or two divorces might not be his fault, or might not be entirely his fault. But if he’s had three divorces, there’s something wrong with HIM. He picks the wrong women to get involved with, or he’s not good husband material, or something. I’d be inclined to believe that he slaps his wives.

Oh, I’d say it’s inarguable that at least two of the divorces were largely Gibbs’ fault. (I’m excepting his divorce from the ex-wife he and Farnell share, as Gibbs warned Farnell that she would leave him soon and would in the process of leaving clean out his bank account and anything valuable that wasn’t nailed down, and as he was right I’ll give him a bye there.) But judging by the romances we’ve seen on screen – I’m thinking specifically of Colonel Mann, and to a lesser extent Jenny Shepherd – his superficial charm is outweighed by his [del]inability[/del] refusal to be emotionally vulnerable. Hell, he clearly adores Abby, and that relationship doesn’t have the freight of sex to add to the strain, but even she has to fight to get him to let her in.

Mark Harmon, that is. That show and those characters get on my nerves like whoa.

Number one, persons old enough to be my father are not appealing. He’s sharp for an old guy, but not a potential romantic partner.

Number two, he’s married to his job, and has close relationships primarily with people he became involved with on the job–I don’t like the competition.

And yes, the three divorces are off-putting, even if I’d like to think he’s finally healing after the loss of Shannon and Kelly.

Pretty much this. I find the character too emotionally unavailable and unfunny (though I do love the show), but the main issue is that Gibbs/Mark Harmon is way too old for me. Hell, Michael Weatherly is majorly pushing it and he’s 16 years younger than Harmon (though I’d never date DiNozzo). Sean Murray and Brian Dietzen, sure.

I’d love dating Ducky – I love his wealth of experience and stories, and he is aging very well. Hell, I’d even date McGee, if I can remove x years from my age. DiNozzo is the character who is poison.

My wife is a much bigger fan of the show than I am, so I asked her. She said yes, she would date him. I would also like to point out that I have decided that NCIS and/or Criminal Minds is always airing on some channel, somewhere 24 hours a day/7 days a week.

My wife is a much bigger fan of the show than I am, so I asked her. She said yes, she would date him. I would also like to point out that I have decided that NCIS and/or Criminal Minds is always airing on some channel, somewhere 24 hours a day/7 days a week.

MAS*H was always airing on some channel, something like 30 years ago. And I do mean airing, we didn’t have cable back then. Cable was available, but we didn’t subscribe to it.
