Exactly. Honestly, if this exact thing had happened to, say, a Fox News reporter during the Clive Bundy protests, the Ferguson PD’s defenders here would be the ones crying the loudest about their constitutional rights being violated.
All this discussion shows is how people have further retreated into their partisan corners.
They were ordered to disperse, and instead of doing so they stood around tweeting, taking video, acting like they didn’t know which way was out, and shuffled around pretending they couldn’t handle their luggage. The police were right to remove them.
The press have not been “fired on”.
My position would be unchanged. The press do not have the right to break the law in the name of corporate profits.
How were the reporters sitting in a McDonalds interfering with police?
You mean like at Clive Bundy’s ranch?
So acting rudely is a crime now?
Speaking as a fellow conservative, I would like to say that you are (A) being extremely stupid, and (B) alarmingly willing to tolerate dictatorial, military-type actions by a level of government that has no business possessing anything resembling military hardware.
The governor should declare martial law and disarm the local police until things can be sorted out.
You’re conflating two different situations.
Unfortunately, most of the conservatives on this board have lost their collective minds on this issue. Tyranny is tyranny, whether it manifests as the federal government being unjust to Cliven Bundy, or whether it manifests as the Ferguson police acting in an unconstitutional manner towards citizens.
Edit: the Ferguson police have long-since forgotten, if they ever knew, that they are public servants.
By refusing to leave when ordered to disperse.
Rubber bullets != bullet bullets.
Shouting “Press” != immunity from an order to disperse.
Yes, yes, comrade. The end justifies the means. We know.
I never said what kind of bullets were used. I didn’t say they were attacked, just fired on.
I haven’t heard a report that they were told to disperse. Just that they were fired on (with rubber bullets and tear gas) and that the cameras were pointed at the ground.
Expecting people to obey the law is not tyranny. It is justice.
Of course they remember. They’re protecting the people of Ferguson from the thugs and anarchists who want to do harm to the community.
Not even you believe that.
I may be alone in this, but in my opinion != ≠ ≠. I think <> is more logical.
I’ve never been hit by a rubber bullet, but they probably sting like a bitch. They also fired tear gas at the press.
I don’t think the press has an obligation to disperse. If there’s a disturbance going on, they have a duty to record it. Suppose the press had buggered off from Kent State, would the National Guard have killed more?
It was in your own cite.
I’m not sure that’s the case. At least two of the most vocal “conservatives” in this thread lost their minds long ago. Terr, as you’ve noticed, is just fucking stupid. Smapti is not at all conservative; he’s an unrepentant fascist.
What law grants the press immunity from an order to disperse?
You mean the Ferguson police are protecting the people from the Ferguson police?
No, I’m a liberal.
Hmm. If != ≠ ≠, than what does != equal?
