It was not the Izuzu, but good try.
Thanks Jet, I have seen the wagon and know its story. It’s just that it very well may have been an SUV with changed logos, but it was that other message board that got me on this hunt. It’s the fact that I am not alone in seeing this vehicle. Hopefully I’ll see it again sometime soon and I’ll grab a picture or a chat with the owner. I’m gonna keep hunting, none the less…
That Ferrari wagon is my new dream car. I just need to wait for the Brunei royal family to get ready to sell.
In the meantime, check out the latest in high end SUVdom:
How about the DeTomaso Simbir?
ARRRRRRGH. After going through every frickin’ model Ferrari ever made, to disprove this statement, and adding URL’s and stuff for about ten models, the hamster ATE MY POST. (I saw a 4-seat Ferrari in Monaco in 1989 and knew what you wrote was not true.)
I’m not going to do all that job again, so I’ll just post one link.
The latest 4-seat model came in 1989, Mondial T is maybe a 2+2, but still. there are a lot of other four seat cars made through the years, in fact more models, than number of cars you claim.
I know about other 4-seaters going back to the 1960’s, but the OP was specifically asking for SUV’s. The wagon I cited is probably the most likely model to be mistaken for a SUV, though it looks more like a station wagon. AFAIK, Ferrari has never produced an SUV or anything equivalent.
Hmmm. What about the FIAT Stilo?
Here are some better looks at the Laforza models.
And, let’s not forget that if someone, somewhere, is willing to build Speed Racer’s Mach 5, some very misguided individual may be having a little bit of fun by creating his or her own dream/nightmare SUV.
While I was looking for that, I also ran across these fine, random images:
Dude? Is that a Messerschmitt 308 GTB or something?
Jet Jaguar - My apologies. Sloppy reading on my part. I read it as if you said that Ferrari only made one car with four seats, ever.
I like the four seaters, though.
Could it be a Ssangyong Musso? It was a somewhat Benz-like 4WD prone to identity changes. Mercedes-Benz provided some input in its planning and the cars were equipped with their engines. Mercedes-Benz originally sold Mussos as Ssangyongs in some of their overseas dealerships before the car was updated and became the Daewoo Musso.
I’ve seen Mussos rebadged as Benzes on several occasions but nothing would stop an owner going further by using different labels. After all, how many road users have heard of Ssangyong anyway?
