Festivus for the rest of us

I was thinking about having a party in January, and basing it on the holiday celebrated on the Sienfeld Show. George’s father held the “Festivus” at his home, which include erecting the aluminum pole, a meal, and the airing of grievences.

I think it would be a welcome change of pace from the so-called traditional Xmas holiday.

I don’t remember any other details. Does anyone out there recall anything else about Festivus?

The feats of strength!

Welcome to the boards.

I think this is a lovely idea and I think you should absolutely be the host.

So where do you live, and how many of us can fit in yer place comfortably?

The airings of grievances!

I never saw that episode.
But did you know in my local Tops Grocery store, there is a pint of Ben & Jerry’s Festivus?

Well, the aluminum pole is a must: “i find tinsel distracting”

I guess we all sit around a table for dinner, and the first step is the airing of grievances. This is comprised of just telling eachother what you don’t like about them.

The only other step covered in the Festivus episode was “the Feats of Strength”…where Festivus can’t really end until someone pins another in some sort of livingroom wrestling competition. (folding chairs optional)

Festivus is back, baby!!!

Here’s a great page that describes the origin of Festivus, as well as what to do: http://www.interlog.com/~porteous/festivus.html
