I am extremely amused and happy that FIFA are having to wash their dirty laundry in public. We all know that it is corrupt from top to bottom so full marks to the english FA and the BBC for chipping away at this (good article here)
Yes, it is Schadenfreude of the highest order but I care not. And in any case, with FIFA being Swiss based they will understand that word all too well (though they will say it in a funny way)
I can only hope that it all comes crashing down around their ears and it replaced by something fit for a more noble purpose. I hope Blatter and the whole grubby edifice collapses and we finally get a global leadership that actually cares about the sport rather than the lining of pockets.
And if the deals done around the Russia 2018 and Qatar 2022 bids unravels and needs to be re-done? so much the better.

I’ve never understood why the major FAs have stood FIFA for so long. The European and South American FAs should have gone their own way years ago. The rest of the world would have followed them.
Of course there is an argument to make that UEFA and other organisations are modelled on, and shaped by, and dependant on, the great beast that is FIFA.
I wonder whether Platini has the guts to instigate such a breakaway or is the prize of the FIFA presidency too much to ignore? Is he any better? Who is the man on the white horse here?
Will FIFA actually crash and burn? Or will there just be a bunch of lurid articles and show [del]trials[/del] committees and a few people will get sacked and eventually Blatter and the other survivors will go back to funnelling vast amounts of payola into their Swiss bank accounts? My money’s on option #2.
I’ll also be very surprised if they take the competition away from Russia. Qatar, maybe, but not Russia.
They have been in each other’s pockets for so long that a lot of people know where a lot of bodies are buried and it’ll only take one of them to break ranks to bring forward some startling allegations.
It’ll be fun I’m sure. I’ve yet to meet anyone who thinks re-organisation and a re-think is *not *a good idea.
