Is that, like, the fourth lousy Morocco pass that Canada has easily been able to intercept?
Also - already five Canada corners to Morocco’s zero.
I had been worried however Canada looks like they belong in this game.
Morocco looks frustrated.
Advantage Canada - possibly Morocco’s most dangerous player - Saibari - already injured and out of the game after just 20 minutes.
Can’t stand the namebar font on Canada’s kit.
I do know that the Germany-Paraguay tickers were $300+ for nosebleed seats in the corners four weeks out, but on the day of the game you could get good seats at the 35 yard line halfway down for $250.
Maybe they can get uniforms that don’t have specks of paint on them for the next tournament.
Lots of yellow…
Other than Spain - Russia a few Cups ago, this is the most boring and low-energy soccer match I’ve ever seen. Did the Moroccans and Canadians enjoy a bunch of the Canadian legal weed before kickoff?
Heh, yeah, that too.
Seen a lot more egregious yellows than that. (David’s)
I’ve only seen a third of all games so far (because not all games are free to watch here and many games are in the middle of the night), but this is the most boring of all I’ve seen.
And another yellow. Ugly game, bad ref who doesn’t control the game. You can’t do it by throwing cards left and right without some communicative skills, which he seems to lack.
Canada matches have been like that with the exception of when they played Qatar and scored 6. They know their technical limitations on the ball and play more slow and physical but it does drag their opponents down to that level.
Canada is keeping themselves in the game. Morocco can’t be happy. Oh well.
Having Alphonso Davies come in at some point in the second half is bound to be a boost for Canada.
3: an indirect free kick leading to a goal that either did or did not touch another player?
3: an indirect free kick leading to a goal that either did or did not touch another player?
Good observation, yes, in this case, too. Or even a throw-in leading to a legal goal if the ball is touched by anyone before crossing the line.
ETA: something like this legendary goal by a throw-in in Jean-Marie Pfaff’s first game for Bayern:
Ugly game…
Canada could well be the chippiest team, to compensate for not being as elite as the majority of their opponents.
EDIT: However, in the first half, Morocco have gotten four of the six cards.
I don’t blame Canada, I know they’re restricted, but I expected more from Morocco!
Concur. “Ill-tempered” would be my term for it. Maybe the second half will be better.
Has Davies not recovered yet, or did he get hurt again?
From what I’ve read, he still doesn’t have the condition for 90 minutes. I bet he will get in soon, though.
ETA: and there’s the goal for Morocco, out of nowhere. Yeah, now I’m sure Davies will be subbed in soon.
