Argentina can’t play like this against any of the remaining teams.
That holds true for all of the semi-final teams. There hasn’t been a lot of magic going around lately.
Welp. My personal picks for the quarterfinals were Morocco, Belgium, Norway, and Switzerland. So if anyone wants me to root against your team, I take Venmo, PayPal, and Cash App.
Well, on the one side I think that yellow/red changed the game completely, Switzerland was on rare form and Argentina wasn’t playing well, I hope y’all simulation-haters are happy, I don’t like it.
On the other hand WE ARE PLAYING THE FRIGGIN 8 GAMES! THANKS DIEGO IN HEAVEN!.
Both of the semifinals are indoors however the final will be outdoors.
Embolo screwed his team with a simulation call on a second yellow/red card.
My new worry is that if we play like this against England we can get humiliated.
I’m having trouble following the Embolo thing. The wrong yellow on Parades had to go against Embolo? I don’t know what I am missing…
This worries me also
It’s sort of a new rule, if a player gets a yellow card for a foul and VAR detects it was a simulation the yellow card gets applied to the simulating player, since Embolo already had a yellow card, he got a red card because 2 yellows = one red.
Se embolo… ![]()
(In Spanish, it can mean fed up, or getting drunk.)
The clock doesn’t represent what is actually happening.
a 90 minute game with 5 minutes added at each half is now 100 minutes plus 30 more minutes if it goes to overtime. That’s over 2 hrs of playing time. I think the clock should show this and not a running total. My personal preference would be an updated clock with all the time to be played plus a countdown clock. This is a grueling sport made much harder in the heat and humidity which has been present in the recent games. It’s not like American Football where the play stops ever 20 seconds and they turn halftime into a music festival.
I’ve said my piece. But I like to know how long they’re going to play (updated as it changes) and I want a countdown clock.
Hahaha, in Rioplatense Spanish it means getting royally bored.
Comedian James Corden’s take on England’s coach was hilarious.
At least it won’t be played in Estadio Islas Malvinas.
So if there were no yellow card being called against Parades then Embolo would not have received the second yellow?
Almost certainly not, which is what a number of observers are grousing about. Theoretically, any dive could be given a card, but in reality they are almost never given for dives except in the penalty box. But with the way VAR is working for this tournament, if you do dive to the point of fooling the ref into giving a yellow card to the opposing player, then VAR can review it and bring the dive to the referee’s attention, in which case the referee has to card the dive instead. If the referee had given just a foul but no card, the VAR wouldn’t have reviewed it and the dive would have been successful.
This.
Thank you. That clears it up for me.
Without the yellow card, would VAR have said anything about Embolo’s simulation?
I don’t think so.
