FIFA World Cup 2026 - discussion etc

Saw a single briefly appear for $690 in the upper deck. I wasn’t interested in it, but it didn’t matter, because it was snapped up in seconds. Some Scotland fan is happy!

Even if a game was hosted in Michigan, I couldn’t afford to go and take my son. I went to a Pistons game(vs Lakers) earlier this year and even that was already $250/ticket. I’m so old I remember when games were WAY cheaper.

I’m not spending $2,000/ticket for any event.

OK…maybe if Detroit hosted the World Cup final and it was USA vs someone.

Broader question here, but is there any reason teams can’t play all of their group stage games in the same stadium?

Because it seems wasteful to fly teams around, and some teams fly farther than others, which is a little unfair.

If the USA does end up winning the group, they’ll play some 3rd place finisher in the round of 32 (some potentially difficult matchups there), and if they win that they’ll play either another 3rd place team or the winner of a weak group, likely Belgium.

Certainly not guaranteed, but as favorable path to the quarterfinals as you could hope for.

It would have to be at least 2 stadiums per group due to simultaneous final matches, but yeah they shouldn’t be so far apart.

The tournament is for fans / tickets, not the players. They’re the product and it shouldn’t just be what’s easiest for them.

We’re back to calling it a “hydration break” for this one.

Scottish midfield completely outpaced and outclassed.

Well that was shite.

Lucky to be only one down, can’t get control of the game, big players making nervy mistakes.

Some signs of better play in the last 5 mins but well have to sustain a huge step up to get out of this no worse off, still less escape woth a draw.

Really pulling for Scotland to pull this out.

Apparently the USA has never won back-to-back World Cup games since 1930, until today.

One or two of the Scottish players look out of their depth at this level unfortunately.

Better second half for SCO

As of 43 minutes ago it’s my birthday so: a little birthday goal for Stanislaus? Just a delicious goal for a special birthday boy, is that so much to ask?

If Paraguay can draw against Turkey, it should help the USA win the group.

Well, they are more than drawing right now…I really wish Haiti could have scored at least one goal. They still have a chance to score a goal in the world cup in something like 53 years in their last match, but they are now eliminated, regardless of what happens next.

Not help, it wins the US the group.

And now we have the first stupid red card for a player for covering his mouth.
Stupid stupid stupid rule.

That’s fucking insane.

First the yellow for simulation in a different game, then a red for that. The guy is on a streak.

He knows the rules. Idiot.
