FIFA World Cup 2026 - discussion etc

I’m surprised China doesn’t do better in international football.

They have made one World Cup. 2002. They did not score a goal and went out in group phase.

Interesting that Canada will be the first-ever WC host to play on the road (this Sunday in LA against South Africa).
Well, sucks, but…

South Korea played a game in Japan

Edit, never mind, I got bad information (I bet you can guess where!).

I don’t know which country has the fans with the continuous drums and singing but I’d like the the sound people to pull it out. It’s really annoying.

It’s their away kit this year. I like it a lot & have bought one.

With their win, Ecuador eliminates Scotland since any result in the Cabo Verde vs. Saudia Arabia match will result in one of them overtaking Scotland on points or goal differential.

That is about as good as it gets with the goal from Japan.

At least until that bullet the Swedes just scored on.

Both current games pretty good and competitive.

Group F Japan hammer Sweden
Group G Egypt beat Iran
Group D Australia hammer Paraguay
Group I Senegal and Iraq draw

That’s 4 groups with paths for Scotland beating 3rd place team which is all they need, I didn’t check any more.

I have the sound off, what are the implications of this JAP-SWE match?

The Dutch win the group, the Japanese are second, the Swedes are a lock to advance.

Thank you.

I know it won’t make any difference, but I really hope Türkiye feeds the US some humble pie - if only to shut up Alexi Lalas.

LOL at the idea of anything shutting him up. Turkiye winning big would only make him louder and more obnoxious.

It would just make him more annoying.

There’s no way to make him less annoying - I just want him to suffer.

It’s even more complicated than that and two doors have already closed.

4 of those seem pretty doable and the rest are longshots.

Germany beating Ecuador looked doable, too. I sure wouldn’t bet on them getting four out of the seven remaining results.
