Film format database?

So as we get more BluRays in, it’s astonishing to see the variations in quality. The Searchers, filmed in VistaVision, is breathtaking; one customer went out and bought a bluray machine after seeing it. Most movies, however–even new ones–don’t look drastically different in high definition. The most obvious exceptions are those filmed in high definition video (Planet Earth is a religious experience) and, as far as I’ve been able to gather so far, VistaVision.

I finally got around to watching the bluray of Blade Runner, and it’s almost as breathtaking as The Searchers. But it’s not on the tragically brief list of movies filmed in VistaVision. And I can’t find, on IMDB, the format it was shot in. Does anyone know where to find this information? Thanks. (And yes; I know it’s probably in the opening credits. But I want to be able to look up other movies too, without necessarily putting them in the machine one at a time.)

IMDb has more VistaVision movies; 164 to be exact. It took a bit of headscratching to get to where I could put in the term for Technical.

What do you mean by format? If you go to the technical page on IMDB it lists things like Panavision and the aspect ratio. Is that what you are referring to? Or is there something more specific?

ps:
I know you checked IMDB. I only ask about this because it’s not like it’s a major part of the main IMDB listing.

Well, I’m not sure. I guess I want to start to get an idea of what format/film-stocks are likely to make the best bluray transfers. VistaVision, so far, is at the top of pre-high-def-video format/stocks, from what I can tell. And whatever Blade Runner was filmed on is a very close second.
