There are several scripts floating around about Janis Joplin, but her family is actively cockblocking actual production of them by sitting on the music rights and falsely claiming to have a project of their own in the works. Source: My playwriting professor, 30 years ago.

Touch the Sound: A Sound Journey with Evelyn Glennie, a documentary about deaf Scottish percussionist Evelyn Glennie.

A recent-ish docudrama about Anita O’Day was tops. I’ve always known “Sweet Georgia Brown,” like everybody else, but she taught me how to actually enjoy playing that one.

Argh! Why did I forget that one! I love that film. Yeah, it’s a big weepy film, but it is chock full of great music, new tunes written for the film by some of the best songwriters of the Brill Building era. The only real shame is the soundtrack features Elvis Costello’s version of the title song. Elvis buddy, love your songwriting but you can not croon.

Quite enjoyed that one.

A hidden gem.

A very subversive film, that played with it’s own ridiculous premise.

“Why are you here?”
