I feel like I’ve wandered into a Heinlein novel!
But, why so many private spaceflight ventures?
And why now? The technology’s been there since the 70’s for hardware, computers since the 80’s.
It’s great, I’m a big spaceflight supporter, but why now?
There’s a big prize for the first something something. I think the sudden increase is people wanting that prize. I don’t know why there have not been private space flight attempts before though.

Because NASA has finally dropped all pretense of competing for private space-flight dollars?
Could the end of Cold War tensions have something to do with it?
