I figured Melissa was going to win because, dammit, she panders exactly to the FN demographic. Her 4-step chicken aside, I can’t see her bringing anything different than the current crop of FN stars whose audience is the same demographic (I’m looking at you, Rachael and Sandra Lee, in particular).

I will admit, though, that her pilot seemed much more polished than Jeffrey’s. I thought her delivery was a bit forced and over-the-top enthusiastic, though.

Jeffrey…:sigh: I really, really wanted you to win. The “Ingredient Smuggler” might be a hokey title, but, dammit, you’d be the one I’d want to introduce me to something culinarially (is that a word?) new and exciting. I almost yelled at the TV when you didn’t even explain what harissa is and where to purchase it, but dammit, I wanted to eat that sandwich you made!

But yeah, this is FN. Why should I be shocked that Melissa won?

I liked them both so I was rooting for either one to win.

The odd thing is, the original pilot ideas both contestants came up with likely would have been tossed out. I saw a commercial for Melissa’s new show and it was something like “$10 Dinners.”
