Finally, a job interview.

OK, interview in an hour. I hope to have some good news for you when I get back, but no promises. I’ll let you know how it goes, at least.

Keeping my fingers crossed!

Erm I havent been on in a year til last week but your not in the af anymore ?

I am in the Air National Guard, I did two years of active duty, and now I’m demobilized, so now I’m a regular Guardsman doing my one weekend a month, two weeks a year thing (actually more than that, but you get the point I’m sure). So now I have to get me a regular job. Hopefully this will be it.

I hope it isn’t too late to say good luck!

::keeping my fingers crossed that we get some good news really soon::

OK, I just got back, and here’s the deal.

It seemed to me like it went well. I answered all the questions they asked me with (presumably) the right answers, they seemed pretty impressed with me, and so I think I’m on the short list.

Here’s the rest of it: I need to get a TS clearance. I have nothing to hide, so that shouldn’t be a problem. Never been arrested-check. Never been cited for anything but tickets-check. Not on drugs-check. OK, I should be fine with that.

Also, the next training class doesn’t start for about a month, maybe as much as 6 weeks. I still need to look for a job in the meantime in case this doesn’t work out.

I’m not out of the woods yet, guys, but I’m getting there.

Best of luck.

Hopefully it works out for ya.

I don’t want to tinkle in your cornflakes and I admit it’s been a few years, but in the late 90s, it could take up to 2 years to get a TS clearance due to backlogs. I know a big deal was made of this and efforts were made to clear the backlog. But the background investigations for TS do take a little time.

I hope things have gotten better because I have to be reinvestigated for my TS, and the security guy tells me reactivating a clearance takes longer than getting it in the first place  I don’t understand that. But for both of our sakes, I hope that the Dept of Homeland Security has their stuff together and we can get through the paperwork nightmare quickly and painlessly.

Good luck to us!

Yeah, I heard it could take a long time, too.

Interestingly enough, the guy said that I may already have one, I just don’t know it. People in my position in the military (Spec-Ops) are usually required to have a TS, it’s just that on all of my orders they say Secret. He said that they simply put the minimum classification on the orders, so maybe I’m already all set in that department.

I’ll find out, I guess.
