Want to have some fun and see how far some of your posters will go in their obstinate refusal to see a valid point they don’t agree with, and much of the same name-calling and insults as well the same denials of the validity of your premises? Check out the "Do you have to be phobic to be a “homophobe” thread.
You’ll also see how unimaginative they are. Although our threads are on much different aspects of what could be called, for want of a better term, the homosexual experience, their arguments and insults are almost identical.
I started that thread in the hope of generating a valid discussion in regard to the OP and you’ll see what it became. Have fun.

To those unaware of the goings-on referred to in that other thread, Starving Artist is getting his ass kicked all over the map. He recently proclaimed that he didn’t have time to post there anymore, as his oh-so-important life was calling. So now he’s over here instead, trying to find anyone who would back up his moronic, yet undefinable, position.
But please, feel free to come on over and see for yourselves. We’re having pie.
Most of these people started out plussed because instead of trying to address the basic underlying dishonesty of the OP, they began to focus on whether or not I was a true “homophobe.” While they apparently didn’t like some of my terminology, they were unsure as to where I was coming from. They didn’t know whether to hammer me as a bigot, or to cut me some slack because I might be on their side. This caused great confusion, as well as a refusal to focus on the basic dishonesty of attributing phobic attributes to people who were not genuinely phobic in an effort to further a societal goal, i.e., gay rights.
They also displayed an amazing ability to totally overlook the accurate assessments made by the few who happened upon the thread who understood my point and tried to explain what I was trying to say. In every case, the validity of the explanations offered by my “rescuers” 
was either lamely refuted, as in the manner of Diogenes the Dipshit who is so fond of claiming that a point he can’t or won’t acknowledge is simply nonsense and totally without merit.
As the thread progressed, they decided I was indeed one of the dreaded homophobes and the vitriol was on. And in much the same way as it was with you.
Starving Artist is more than capable of holding his own against the small band of small-minded nitwits on “that other thread.” Only just like you, I found myself thinking the same thing as you. Once the more open-minded posters bailed, it just became a drag. I even used the same word as you: “tiresome.”

With regard to my precious, busy life: I was accused of hiding for not responding to some of their posts when in reality I was simply offline. When I came back on, and after addressing the posts I was accused of running from, I explained that I had simply gone offline in order to work, eat, sleep, etc. Pretty prima donna-ish of me, huh?
This is a perfect example of how they distort and misconstrue a person’s comments to suit their own purposes.
But indeed, come on over everyone. We badly need some new blood.
At the risk of nit-picking, I forgot to address yet *another * comment erroneously attributed to me on this thread.
I never said I didn’t have time to post anymore. What I said, after being criticized for the manner in which I was prioritizing my posts in lieu of my “limited” time online, was that once back online I could always respond to whatever I needed to. Again, I never complained about having to be offline, it was my opponents who had a problem with it since they thought I wasn’t paying them proper attention.
In dealing with these people I almost feel like a Mac trying to talk to a PC. It makes sense when it leaves here, but comes back as distorted gobbledegook.
Ordinarily, when people want to start a thread “in the hope of generating a valid discussion in regard to the OP”, they do it in Great Debates or Humble Opinion. Just saying…
StarvingArtist, I think I should share my new philosophy with you:
Take three deep breaths and resolve to post nothing on any gay topic whatever except to say “Everything you say is right”. All else is the simple “waste of time/annoy the pig” situation. Intolerance in the name of tolerance is fucking ironic, I agree, but what can we possibly do?

It has happened yet once again - a perfectly wonderful activity (anal sex) beaten to within an inch of its life by a pedantic over-analysis that makes the issue of whether angels dance on the heads of pins seem even more trivial and pointless.

I’d apologise, if I’d actually castigated the practice. Unfortunately everything I’ve had to say has been rather drowned in the outraged grunts of “Homophobe! Me bash good!”.
