Is ‘independant’ a valid spelling in its own right or not?
If not, then those were genuine typos - Google doesn’t look at parts of words.

There’s a lot of it out there, eh?
If you type in milenium, it even suggests millenium.
Here’s a list of common spelling mistakes.
Although seperate leads all of these (as previously posted by Sparrow)
I call “foul” on this one too, since there were many products/companies/etc. intentionally using the misspelled version of “millennium” in the years before Y2K. This even included a major car manufacturer (Japanese I believe, but I can’t remember off the top of my head which one exactly).
Yeah, I agree too. (Even if it was my last ditch attempt to ‘win’)
It’s only a foul if three or more of those valid spellings happen to appear on the first page of the search results - dem’s da roolz.
ect. pulls 858,000 hits, but apparently ECT is a valid abbreviation for a whole lot of things, so its hard to say how many actual misspellings this accounts for.

Is ‘licence’ a valid variant spelling of license? Merriam-Webster online dictionary doesn’t list one.
In keeping with the spirit of this contest I vote we call this activity ‘Googlewacking’.
Ooh, Mangetout’s last post gave me an idea:
Searched the web for warez. Results 1 - 10 of about 11,400,000
But I’m sure this will probably be challenged on the same basis as ‘millenium’. Still beats that misspelling at it’s own game though.

What does warez misspell? Isn’t that a valid name for a product.
Well, it misspells “wares”, although “warez” has been used by hackers and phreakers and the like for a long, long time…
i came up with a good solution to this. the new millennium started on January 1st, 2001. The new millenium started on Januart 1st, 2000.
